T.J. Weiss, who has served the past five years as an assistant principal at Central Junior High, has been named assistant principal at Springdale Har-Ber High School. He replaces Patrick Scott, who is the new principal at Helen Tyson Middle School.
“I am extremely excited to be able to serve a larger number of teachers and students at Har-Ber High School and help them accomplish their vision and mission,” Weiss said. “I have loved my time at Central. I have learned a lot from the staff. Central is part of my family.
“I want to thank Dr. (Central principal, Todd) Loftin and Paul Griep (Har-Ber principal) for giving me opportunities and for empowering me to be a strong leader. I want to thank Dr. (Superintendent Jared), Cleveland, Dr. (Associate Superintendent Marcia) Smith and the entire administrative team for this opportunity and I wish to thank the school board for its endless support, especially throughout this year.”
A graduate of Dana College (Nebraska) with a degree in physical education and kinesiology, Weiss spent 10 years as a strength coach and personal trainer before being hired at the Archer Learning Center to teach health, fitness and physical education. During his 10 years at Archer he earned his master’s in educational leadership from Arkansas State.
Griep was the principal who hired Weiss as assistant principal at Central before he was named principal at Har-Ber. Loftin has been the principal at Central the past three years.
“We reviewed a lot of great candidates for the assistant principal position and T.J. rose to the top,” Griep said. “His combination of servant leadership and strong instructional leadership make him a perfect fit to serve our teachers and students at Har-Ber.”
Dr. Cleveland added, “T.J. is a tremendous leader who possesses great instructional leadership skills and has grown tremendously in his leadership journey in Springdale. He brings a broad range of educational experience to Har-Ber High School that will enhance the focus on teaching and learning while meeting the learning needs of students and families.
