Community Service Hours
Summer is a great time to complete your community service hours. Before you begin, carefully read our community service guidelines.
Every student attending a Douglas County School is required to fulfill a 20 hour community service requirement outside of their home and family environment in order to graduate. All hours must be done through a non-profit organization. All hours must be documented in the HelperHelper App to be processed. Hours must be verified by someone within the organization. Family members may not verify hours

LINK Crew
Link Crew is a national mentorship organization to help the incoming freshmen class acclimate to high school. Chaparral has an amazing group of Link Crew Leaders who applied, interviewed and have gone through extensive training for their positions.
Freshmen will receive a phone call from their assigned leader sometime during the last week of July or the first week of August.
Link Crew- Peach Sale
Our peach sale is the big fundraiser for Link Crew.
Due to the mild winter, the peach season on the Western Slope has been accelerated, and peaches will be ready on August 10!
Link Crew is entirely self-funded, and this fundraiser allows us to feed Link Crew leaders during training, buy pizza for freshmen at the finals study session in December, and purchase supplies, so every box that is sold helps!!
The store will close on August 4 at 3:00 p.m. Here is the link to our MySchoolBucks store (You do not need an account; you can check out as a guest).

From College Board:
SAT® registration is now open for fall 2026. This year, it will be more convenient to take the SAT on your schedule, with dates available every month through the end of the year, beginning in August, and the ability to join the Waitlist if the date or test center you prefer is already filled.
Most juniors take their first SAT in the spring, and many take it again in the fall of their senior yearif they would like to try and improve their score. The SAT can help you keep your college options open, demonstrate your unique strengths, and even qualify for scholarships. And with 100% free practice resources, now including enhanced tailored practice based on your prior test scores and free small-group tutoring, you’ll have everything you need to get prepared.
School Accountability Committee (SAC)
The purpose of the SAC is to provide accountability in an advisory capacity by informing, encouraging, and providing opportunities for parent and community stakeholders to be involved in the planning and evaluation of the school’s instructional program and quality improvement processes. The SAC makes recommendations concerning the school’s budget, performance/improvement plan, and meets at least quarterly to discuss implementation of the school’s plan and other progress pertinent to the school’s accreditation contract with the Board of Education. Final decision-making authority rests with the principal or other person or group receiving the recommendation from the SAC (e.g., the Superintendent, District Accountability Committee (“DAC”), or Board of Education).
Voting members include parents, a community representative, teachers, and the principal. Next school year, 2026-2027, we will be in need of Parent Representatives. Please consider supporting our school by being on this committee. All are welcome to attend, even if you are not a voting member.
More information may be found on our website.
