Safety Protocols

At Wasco, we continually review our safety protocols to ensure students and staff are in the safest environment possible. In the coming months, we will share updates on our safety measures, but we want to make you aware of one immediate change made to align with other district schools. If you are dropping your child off late or picking them up during the school day, you will now be asked to sign them in or out in the vestibule. Previously, all visitors were allowed access to the building; moving forward, building access will be limited to those visiting for longer periods of time, and they will be processed through our Raptor system. Below, you will find an outline of additional safety protocols currently in place.

  • All classroom and office doors are kept in a locked position throughout our instructional day
  • Exterior doors are kept locked and closed unless a staff member is supervising that location
  • Safety drills are practiced regularly to help students understand our processes for emergency situations (fire, severe weather, and ALICE protocols)
  • All visitors will run through our Raptor system and provided a visitor badge in order to have access to our building
  • Families are reminded to leave pets at home during arrival and dismissal
  • All students and visitors are reminded to walk bikes on school grounds during our arrival and dismissal

Instructional Day - Starts at 9:05

Please make every effort to have your child to school between 8:50 - 9:00 am. This ensures they will get to their class, unpack and are ready to start their day at 9:05. This helps your child check in with their teacher or classmate and sets them up for success. Any student who arrives close to 9:05 will need to wait in the vestibule until announcements are finished so they are not disrupting the start of the day for their class. We appreciate your support in setting your child up for success and having them at school by 9:00 am.

Fall Parties - Friday, October 31, 2025

Our PTO is currently planning our fall parties which will take place on Friday, October 31, 2025 from 2:40 - 3:20 however prior to the parties, we will have a short parade from 2:30 - 2:40. Knowing that many families are starting to purchase costumes we wanted to provide some guidelines for our parade.

  • Students will bring their costumes to school and change into them shortly before the parade
  • Costumes may not include any sort of violence or gore
  • Students will not have time to put on face paint or make up so we ask that they save that for their after school activities
  • Blow up costumes or motorized costumes are not allowed

Please note that only volunteers signed up for the parties will be allowed in the building and we do have a limit of 4 volunteers per classrooms. More information about the parade will be shared at our PTO meeting and in a future newsletter.

Looking for a way to support your budding mathematician at home?

The Eureka2 Apply practice workbook is designed just for this purpose! The Apply workbook paints a picture of what math instruction looks like as well as providing your child additional math practice. Classroom teachers in grades 1-5 send them home with students at the start of each math module.

What is in the Apply workbook?

  • Each topic in the module includes a Family Math letter that gives an overview of the math taught in that topic. It includes:

    • new vocabulary

    • models and strategies used in class

    • “At-Home” activities you can do with your child

  • Practice page(s) aligned to each day’s classroom lesson with guided support.

  • Remember pages to help students review previously learned concepts and skills.

We hope you find this resource valuable, and we appreciate your partnership in supporting your child’s math growth. Happy Mathing!

Meet our PTO Executive Board

Did your child bring home their Wasco T-shirt? Did you attend the Back-to-School Social? Or did your child participate in ASE? Each of these experiences was made possible by the leadership of our talented PTO board.

Our PTO meets monthly to celebrate successes, share updates on upcoming activities, and collaborate on problem solving. We would love for you to join us at a meeting to see how you can get involved in the exciting events we have planned for your child(ren).
