Message from the Pyramid Model State Implementation Team

Happy May!

We have almost made it to the end of the 2022-2023 school year. The weather is finally starting to look like summer is just around the corner (or so we hope). It has been a busy few months for all of us, but it has been especially busy for the Minnesota Centers of Excellence PDF team as they geared up to host in-person retreats for the first time in 4 years for all innovations! Further down, you will find resources shared, hot topics discussed, and pictures of all the fun that was had amongst professionals at both the North and Metro/South Pyramid Model Retreats. In this issue, you will also find information on our Demo Classrooms, new learnings from the National Training Institution (NTI) conference, creative ways to share data with your district’s stakeholders, tools for families for over the summer months, ideas for summer learning and/or new materials that you may want to prep this summer (update while you unwind!).

We are so thankful for you taking the time to read this SMORE and for all of the dedication to enhancing your students’ social-emotional-behavioral well-being. We, as the State Implementation Team, hope that you have a wonderful summer filled with experiences and activities that fill your bucket and meet all of your own social, emotional, and behavioral needs.

We look forward to partnering with you in 2023-2024!

Pyramid Model Retreats

The Retreats were a welcoming sight to have back this Spring! This year we held the Classroom Engagement Model and Pyramid Model retreats together, as we have a growing number of sites implementing both innovations. We had 89 registered participants across 20 teams attend our North Retreat on April 28th in Bemidji. Our Metro/South Retreat was held on May 5th in Brooklyn Center with 123 participants across 26 sites.

Some of the highlights from this year's retreats were:

  • Tucker the Turtle stopping by for a visit
  • Swag bags for participants
  • Great variety of spotlights, intensive sessions, and poster walkabouts.

Demonstration Classroom Reminder

Congratulations to our 8 Demonstration Classrooms! These classrooms have been nominated by internal staff, reviewed by the Pyramid Model State Implementation Team, and have been recognized by the the Commissioner at the MN Department of Education. Being a Demonstration Classroom recognizes the outstanding dedication and consistent efforts these teams have invested in implementing Pyramid Model Practices.

Does your Pyramid Model Site also have teaching teams who have reached the Maintaining Phase of Fidelity? If so, we would like to hear about it and recognize their hard work and dedication in reaching the Maintaining phase of fidelity! Here's the simple process:

  • Contact your External Coach/PDF to indicate your desire to nominate staff members.

  • Your External Coach/PDF will share the link to a Google Survey for your site's Administrator or Data Manager to complete for each teaching team being nominated.

  • Nominations will be processed by MNCoE in February and July of each year. (You may submit nominations all year long)!

  • Continue to nominate additional teaching team members as they reach the Maintaining phase of fidelity!

  • Celebrate! Celebrate! Celebrate!
