4th Quarter - Time to buckle down and finish strong!

I hope that all EOY students, families, and staff had a wonderful Spring Break. We are now in the 4th quarter grading period, and like in 4th quarter of any March Madness basketball game, it's time for all of us to buckle down and finish strong. All students, families, and staff should reflect on what has worked regarding individual student learning, and what areas need improvement. Our theme this year is Tigers CLIMB Together. Thus far, we have focused on Community and Learning, which are the foundation for creating COMMUNITY classrooms that are conducive to LEARNING. For the next several weeks, we will focus on the Individuality of students - identifying strengths, areas for growth, and any necessary interventions as we prepare for end-of-year assessment.

As we start the final grading period, cover the remaining NC curriculum standards, and prepare for end-of-year assessments; it is essential that students follow all VCS and EOY expectations for academics and behavior. All EOY teachers and support staff have the right to teach and students have a right to learn without disruption of the learning environment and safe transportation to/from school. Students who disrupt class, buses, or the operation of EOY will be handled per the VCS Student Code of Conduct.

I am thankful to the students, families, and staff who work collaboratively to help our students grow and succeed. It truly takes a village and Tigers will CLIMB together. Let's have an amazing week focusing on academics and PAWsitive behaviors.

Community Read Aloud at Perry Memorial Library

New program on Mondays from 5:30pm-6:15pm, starting January 22nd. It is called "Community Read Aloud" and the idea is that youth will have a chance to read to a volunteer with the National Honor Society Students from the Vance County Early College High School. There is no registration required but folks can let me know they are coming by emailing mpeters@perrylibrary.org. We are hoping to foster the love of reading and support an encouraging environment for learning and reading out loud as everyone gets a chance to listen to themselves and others read.
