Hello Primary Community,

Thank you for welcoming me so warmly into the Lytle community! A little about myself. I have been in education for 25 years, with 18 of those years served in school administration. My family is at the heart of everything I do—I have been married to my husband for 34 wonderful years, and together we have 3 children and 4 beautiful granddaughters. I am honored to lead Lytle Primary and look forward to working alongside each of you to ensure our students thrive.

Celebrating a Fantastic Start to the School Year

We want to send a heartfelt THANK YOU to all of our parents, guardians, community members, and especially our incredible staff for making the start of this school year such a glowing success! Your support, flexibility, and dedication have set a joyful tone for our campus.

Campus Updates & Construction Countdown It has been an exciting season of growth for Lytle Primary:

  • Welcome 2nd Grade! We are thrilled to officially welcome our 2nd-grade students and teachers to their new home on our campus.

  • New Facilities Open: Our students and staff are already loving and actively using our brand-new classroom wing and new gymnasium!
  • Final Finishing Touches: The new playground and expanded parking area are almost ready, with all remaining construction officially wrapping up on September 21st. We truly appreciate everyone’s patience as these final facility upgrades are completed.

Building Strong Foundations

Every day in our halls, our youngest scholars are learning, growing, and building the essential foundational skills that will serve them for a lifetime. We are so proud of how quickly our students have settled into their daily routines and cannot wait to see all the milestones they will achieve this year.

Please know that I am always here to support our families and serve the needs of our students, ensuring every child has the resources and opportunities they need to thrive.

Thank you for being such vital partners in your child's education. Here’s to an amazing year ahead!

Warm regards,

Mrs. Rebecca Delgado Herrera, Principal

Assistant Principal's Deck Briefing Assistant Principal's Deck Briefing

Ahoy Pirate Families,

Hello, everyone! My name is Roxanne Jenke, and I am so excited to introduce myself as the Assistant Principal for the 2026–2027 school year!

I believe that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, supported, and excited to come to school each day. As an Assistant Principal, I look forward to partnering with our teachers and families to help our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. Most importantly, I want our students to know that they have another caring adult on campus cheering them on every step of the way!

A little about me: I love to read! My passion is literacy, and when I am not in the classroom or office you can find me in one of the Lytle School Libraries. This is my fourth year in administration and 26th year in education. I love coming to work everyday and working with the littlest Pirates as they learn and grow daily.

I am especially excited about the opportunity to build relationships with our youngest learners. Primary school is such a special time, filled with curiosity, discovery, big feelings, and lots of growth. I look forward to celebrating the big milestones and the little victories with our students throughout the year.

As we begin this new school year, I encourage you to say hello when you see me around campus. I am always happy to meet our families and learn more about the students who make our school so special.

Here’s to a fantastic year filled with learning, laughter, growth, and lots of reasons to celebrate!

I am so grateful to be part of the Primary Pirate family, and I cannot wait to see what this year brings.

Let’s make it a great one!

Proud Pirate,
Roxanne Jenke, Assistant Principal

Welcome back, Lytle Primary families!

I am so excited to be starting this school year as your new counselor. It has been such a joy getting to know our little pirates and becoming part of the Lytle Primary family!

Before becoming a counselor, I had the opportunity to teach Kindergarten, so working with our youngest learners has always held a special place in my heart. Being in the classroom taught me just how much goes into helping a child feel successful at school—not just academically, but socially and emotionally, too.

I am especially grateful for the opportunity to now focus on the whole child. Our little pirates are learning so much every day, and sometimes the most important lessons are about understanding our feelings, making friends, showing kindness, building confidence, and learning how to handle those big emotions that come with being little. I feel very fortunate that I get to be a part of that journey with them. I am looking forward to building relationships with our students and families and being someone they know they can count on.

I’ll also be sharing monthly updates on my Counselor Page, where families can see what we are working on at Lytle Primary and find resources and ideas to continue some of those conversations at home.

Thank you for welcoming me to Lytle Primary. I am truly excited for all that this year has in store for our little pirates, and I can’t wait to see them learn, grow, and shine!

Learning Log & Compass Learning Log & Compass

Hello Families,

My name is Crystal Schott and as an Academic Coach, I have the opportunity to work alongside our teachers to support high-quality instruction and create engaging learning experiences for all students. I also believe that families are an essential part of a child's success. When school and home work together, children feel supported, confident, and excited about learning.

📚 How You Can Support Learning at Home

Try these simple ideas:

Read together every day.
Set aside 10–20 minutes to read a book, look at pictures, talk about the story, or listen to your child read. Ask questions such as, “What do you think will happen next?” or “Why do you think the character did that?”

Talk, talk, talk!
Conversations build vocabulary and comprehension. Ask your child about their day, encourage them to explain their thinking, and introduce new words during everyday activities.

Practice math in real life.
Count toys, compare which plate has more crackers, look for shapes around the house, sort laundry, measure ingredients, or talk about numbers while shopping.

Encourage independence.
Give your child opportunities to zip a coat, pack a backpack, clean up toys, choose between two options, or complete a small task independently. These experiences build confidence!

Celebrate effort.
Instead of focusing only on whether an answer is correct, try saying:

“I noticed you kept trying even when it was hard!”

This helps children develop a growth mindset and understand that learning takes practice.

💡 A Helpful Reminder About Learning

Every child develops at their own pace. One child may recognize letters quickly while another may need more time. One child may be confident with numbers but still be developing confidence with reading.

Progress matters more than comparison.

Our goal is to meet students where they are, provide the support they need, and celebrate their growth along the way.

🏡 Questions to Ask Your Child

Instead of asking only, “How was school today?” try questions that encourage conversation:

  • What was something fun you did today?

  • What was something you learned?

  • Who did you play or work with?

  • What made you laugh?

  • What was something that was tricky?

  • What book did you read or hear today?

  • What are you excited to learn about?

Even a few minutes of conversation each evening can make a big difference.

Warmly,

Crystal Schott

Every Day Counts at Lytle Primary! Every Day Counts at Lytle Primary!

Seeing our young Pirates walk through the door each morning is truly the best part of our day. Their energy, smiles, and curiosity remind us what a privilege it is to teach and care for your children.

We know mornings can be tough and life gets busy, but having your child here consistently helps us give them the steady foundation they deserve.

To help keep our families informed, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) requires students to attend class at least 90% of the school year to receive credit and stay on track for promotion. Missing just a day or two a month can add up faster than we realize.

To celebrate our students' dedication, we will be hosting a special Monthly Perfect Attendance Incentive every single month to recognize and reward our young scholars!

If your family ever faces hurdles getting to school, please reach out to us. We are in this together, and we are always here to support you and your child.

Thank you for trusting us with your little ones each day!
