Treaty Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that Killam Public School is on Treaty 6 territory - the ancestral and traditional land of many Indigenous groups. We are grateful for the animals, the water and the forests that provide us with many resources we use each day. We are thankful for the diverse opportunities that this land offers. We respect the land in which we gather on today.
Grade 5 (23-24)
Staff Spotlight - Mrs. Pedersen
I’ve been a teacher since 2000 and have spent time teaching Kindergarten, Grade 1 and now Grade 3!
I am a mom of 5 kiddos - 1 still at KPS, 1 at CHSPS while 3 have graduated and moved on to work and university!
Some of my favorite things include downhill skiing with my family and summer road trips as far as I can convince my husband to pull the trailer!
Principal's Message
As we finally welcome spring, there’s a sense of renewal and increase energy around the school! With more students walking, biking, or scootering to school, please remind your child about road safety—wearing helmets and using crosswalks.
A friendly reminder that we are a closed campus during the school day. Please speak with your child about the importance of staying on school property until they board their bus or are picked up at the end of the day.
Spring is also a busy season full of exciting events! Be sure to check the school calendar regularly, as new activities and important dates are being added often.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our students safe and engaged.
KPS is having a SCIENCE FAIR!!

Provide an opportunity for your students to write invitations to give to parents, friends etc.
Be flexible
Coach your class in how to present and answering questions prior to the fair
Help with set up and take down of the science fair
Have fun!
Judging/Prizes:
Each staff member will have 1 criteria given to them and will be asked to choose 1 student that fits that criteria best. A total of 15 prizes will be awarded.
Animals are not permitted at the school, however you may ‘report’ on your findings with pictures and information in your project about live animals.

Kindergarten Eye See…Eye Learn Program and Parent Brochure
As 80% of children’s learning is visual, it is essential to emphasize the importance of scheduling an eye examination for all school aged children, and especially for kindergarten students as they begin their in-school learning years.
Early detection and intervention can significantly impact a child's educational journey. Alberta Health coverage is available for child’s eye exams up to age 19.
