Our first week back definitely did not disappoint. It sure was full of excitement. We were all so happy to see each other after a long break. This week we learned that giving is better than receiving at the Elf Shelf store, celebrated a beautiful Mass with our 4th grade leaders and had a surprise safety drill to end the week.

You might hear from your child that we evacuated the building today. We smelled natural gas and called the Overland Park Fired Department. They advised us to evacuate until they could investigate the building. There was a spill of mercaptan. Mercaptan is the odorant added to natural gas to make it smell. While mercaptan smells unpleasant, the message from Johnson County stated it should not present any danger. The OPFD determined our building was safe and we returned to our classrooms. The gas company came to double check the building. While they did find a small leak, they stated we were safe to remain in the building while they made the repairs.

We feel so blessed for a positive outcome today and are so excited to celebrate tomorrow, Saturday, December 2nd at 8:30am for our annual Breakfast with Santa event. This is the last day to shop at our Elf Shelf Store. A big thank you to our staff, parent volunteers and Mrs. Bridges for making this event such a success.

This Sunday marks the beginning of the Advent season. We are looking forward to a season of hope, peace, joy and love with our Holy Cross Community!

Thank you everyone for helping donate to these families. A special thank you to Mrs. Watson for organizing and Mrs. Kerth for helping with the delivery!
