A Message from the Principal

As we begin the month of March, we look forward to continuing the great things that have been happening here at North Middle. Soon spring will be here, the weather will be a little warmer, and like always, the school year will feel like it's sprinting to the finish line. I hope we are all able to savor the moment, though, and stay focused on the great learning and activities that are happening! Please continue to have those important conversations with your kiddos to make sure all is well, and they have the support they need to finish strong. Ask them how they are doing and if they need any additional help, at home or at school. And don't hesitate to let us know if we can help during this sometimes-crazy season. Once spring break gets here (in just four short weeks), it will all seem like a blur at times, but we want to make sure all of our students have what they need to feel supported and be successful!

On another note, the testing season is almost upon us. For several years, due to the Pandemic, statewide testing and accountability took on a very different look. But now it is imperative that we allow our students to demonstrate how successful they are and how much they know and can do. We are not a school of testers, but we are a school of learners. Statewide testing is not something that we should fear or shun; in fact, it is simply a way for our students and teachers to demonstrate the outstanding knowledge and skills they have learned this year and provides an opportunity to measure student strengths and areas where they need additional support. It also provides feedback to teachers and serves as a barometer of sorts for how successful our academic programs are and if they are supporting students correctly. We encourage all our students to take the Georgia Milestones assessments to provide students, parents, and North Middle with the necessary feedback to continue the great instruction we are seeing in the school and to adjust that instruction when appropriate. Without full participation, it is impossible for us to determine where we truly are as a school and how we can continue to provide a world-class education and support our students as they grow socially, emotionally, and academically.
