Good Sunday afternoon,

We hope everyone had a Brilliant weekend and enjoyed the beautiful weather! We are excited to see our Broncos tomorrow as we continue our work as Brilliantly Inspired Leaders and Learners through our Bronco 5 in quarter four! This will be a four day school week as there is a campus holiday on Friday.

This week we only have a few events as we are entering a quieter period on our calendar. The month of April will be focused on learning and finishing out the year strong. This week is Autism Awareness Week at Brill. A list of dress-up days and activities can be found below as we continue to grow our students as leaders through our Bronco 5 values. This Thursday is also our annual Bronco Picnic! We are closely monitoring the weather and will keep everyone updated on this event.

Finally, we want to thank all of our families for their continued partnership as we work together to support our students. In light of recent events, we want to continue to remind all Brill guests of our visitor procedures when coming onto campus. We appreciate everyone reviewing and following our campus procedures to that we can work together to keep our campus safe for students and staff.

We hope that everyone has a wonderful afternoon and as always, if you have any questions please do not hesitate to reach out to our staff.

Klein High Senior Outreach Day!

This past week, Brill proudly partnered with Klein High School to host 25 incredible seniors for our Senior Outreach Day! 💛💙

These student leaders spent the day supporting our littlest Broncos—helping in classrooms, at lunch and recess, and during Specials. Our students loved building connections and learning alongside the KHS seniors.

We are so grateful for this meaningful partnership and can’t wait to welcome them back again next year! 🎉

Students explored how sound is created, how it travels, and how we hear it—bringing science to life in a fun and engaging way. A huge thank you to our PTO Programs Team for making this enriching experience possible—our Broncos absolutely loved it! 🐴💛💙

Campus Wide Positive Behavior Incentives:

Here at Brill Elementary, we have worked hard this school year to teach our expectations through the Bronco 5: Kindness, Communication, Integrity, Self-Control, and Respect and acknowledge positive behavior when we see it. One of the ways that we accomplish that is by hosting grade level PBIS events approximately every 9 weeks. These are incentives that every student has the opportunity to participate in if they meet the criteria. Criteria is given to students 6 weeks prior to each event and repeated through daily announcements. It is the responsibility of the student to meet the criteria in order to be able to participate. If a student does not meet the full criteria, they are still allowed to participate in a portion of the event. If a student has an office referral during that 6 week period for physical contact, threatening statements, or more than 1 referral for any reason, they then forfeit the opportunity to participate in that event and instead are involved in a grade level restorative lesson so that they better understand how to maintain the criteria for the next incentive.

Dear Parents,

  • We are incentivizing for students based on behaviors and academics through our school wide matrix of the Bronco 5.
  • Students get the opportunity to earn Bronco Bucks based on Kindness, Respect, Communication, Self Control, & Integrity.
  • Students must complete assignments and not have any office referrals for physical contact or threatening statements in order to participate. Students with other referrals may have partial time for the incentive.
  • We will have school wide incentives on May 15th – Popsicles on the Playground for students to earn.
  • Please remind students of school expectations through our Bronco 5.

Classroom Food Treats- 2 Weeks

Please note that any classroom food treats that are brought to campus must be cleared by the nurse two weeks prior to serving the students. The clinic will need an ingredient list sent to them with the child's homeroom so that they may screen it for allergies. You may also order a treat through cafeteria by visiting Klein's Food Service. Thank you for understanding. If you would like to bring something sooner, we recommend non-food items such as pencils or stickers.

Dress Code Reminders:

When Back to School shopping please keep our dress code in mind:

  • Students should not wear any clothing or accessories that are distracting, disruptive, or disturbing. For example, outfits that are too short, revealing, or depict inappropriate images.

  • Appropriate footwear is required, no slippers are allowed. Closed toed shoes are recommended for recess and PE.

  • Hats or head coverings may not be worn at school.

  • Sunglasses may not be worn inside the building.

  • Pajama bottoms are also not allowed expect on a PJ Spirit Day.

Personal Electronic Communication Device Reminders:

As we prepare for the start of the school year, we want to make sure our families are informed regarding a new state law, House Bill 1481, that was recently passed by the Texas Legislature.

Beginning with the 2025–2026 school year, this new state law prohibits students from using personal communication devices during the instructional day while on school grounds. This includes cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, earbuds, and any other device capable of digital or telecommunication.

What This Means for Our Students
Students may bring personal communication devices to school, but they must be turned off, out of sight, and stored away in their backpack, pocket, laptop sleeve, or other personal belongings while on school grounds from the first bell to the end of the instructional day, including during class, passing periods, lunch, and recess.

The law requires disciplinary consequences for the use of personal communication devices during the instructional day while on school grounds. Exceptions are provided for students covered under a Section 504 plan or an Individualized Education Program (IEP) that includes personal communication devices as an accommodation. Access will be permitted as outlined in their individual plans.

Communication and Support
The majority of our schools implemented similar personal communication device expectations for students last school year and found that their students were less distracted, resulting in more focused learning environments and increased positive face-to-face interactions for students and staff.

Prior to the first day of school, we encourage you to discuss this new Texas law with your children and emphasize the importance of focusing on learning throughout the school day. School leadership will also communicate to students the expectations and consequences for failing to keep personal communication devices off and out of sight when they return to school.

Thank you for your continued partnership as we work together to ensure a positive, safe, and focused learning environment for all students.

Attendance Procedures

Regular school attendance is essential for a student to make the most of his or her education—to benefit from teacher-led and school activities, to build each day’s learning on the previous day’s, and to grow as an individual. Absences from class may result in serious disruption of a student’s mastery of the instructional materials; therefore, the student and parent should make every effort to avoid unnecessary absences.

Did you know you can now report an absence in Skyward? Click HERE for more information.

Any student who is absent for the whole day is required to submit in Skyward one of the following within 5 days of their absence(s):

  • Parent Note
  • Message through Parent Skyward account
  • Original medical note (copies or altered notes will not be accepted)
  • Faxed notes must be sent from physician’s office
  • Court note
  • Official note for observance of approved religious holy days

New this Year:

The front office is only able to submit Doctors Notes for absences. All other absences must be logged by the parent through Skwyard.

Bronco Five

As we begin this year with a continued focus on safe and disciplined schools, I want to remind all our families about Klein ISD’s student behavior expectations. It takes staff, students, and families working together to promote the good behavior we expect to see in our school.

Klein ISD has a Student Code of Conduct to promote a safe and disciplined learning environment for every student that will be strictly enforced on our campus. Therefore, please review with your family these standards of conduct along with the disciplinary consequences for infractions.

We take great pride in creating safe learning environments for our students and staff members. The overwhelming majority of our students are model citizens. We expect every student to take responsibility for contributing to a positive school environment, and we will not tolerate disruptive or disrespectful behavior. Our administrators and staff members are committed to actively monitoring hallways and restroom areas to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.

Safety is everyone’s responsibility, and I ask you, as parents, to partner with us by speaking with your children about appropriate behavioral expectations to ensure a positive learning environment in our school.

I also encourage you to take a look at our Keep Klein Safe website (https://kleinisd.net/keepkleinsafe). If you or your child see or hear something that is a safety concern, it’s critical that you report it. Our Klein ISD Police Department is here 24/7 to keep our students, staff, and community safe and take these reports seriously. Additionally, our school administration is here to serve and support students and they are available anytime during the school day to answer questions and support all efforts for student safety and success.

Thank you for your partnership and for working with us to help every student achieve success and find their purpose.

Note from the Nurse:

Student Illness:

As cold, strep and flu season progresses, we are in that time of year when many students are coming down with upper respiratory symptoms. These include nasal congestion, cough, sore throat, headache, and possibly fever.

Please be aware that Klein ISD requires that students be excluded from school for a fever of 100.0 or higher and they may not return to school until they are fever free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever reducing medications.

Temporarily masking a fever with medication does not change the fact the student is in the contagious period of an illness and may be spreading the illness, like the flu, to others by coughing, sneezing, and touching surfaces.

While we value student attendance, it is important everyone plays their part in keeping the spread of illness to a minimum by following this rule. Please also make sure your contact information and emergency contacts are up to date with the Registrar so that you can be reached in the event your child is ill and must be picked up from school.

NEW Medication Guidelines:

If your child will need a medication while at school, there has been a change to Klein ISD procedures. Medications will need a written order by a licensed healthcare provider. Clinic staff will not be able to use the prescription label as proof of the written medical order, as in the past. The licensed healthcare provider can use the Klein ISD Medication Authorization form, an action plan, or a letter from their office to provide their signed consent. If you have any questions, please contact our school clinic.

Also please contact the clinic for any student needing an action plan.

Ex. Action plans may include the following:

  • Asthma
  • Allergy to foods
  • Diabetes
  • Seizures
