Ohio State Testing Information
Dear Parents and Guardians,
State testing is just around the corner, and we know how important it is for students to feel confident and ready. While these assessments help us understand student learning and growth, we also recognize that they can bring added stress. As partners in your child’s education, we want to share a few simple ways you can help set them up for success—without adding extra pressure.
First, a good night’s sleep is essential. Middle schoolers need about 9-11 hours of rest to stay focused and alert. Encouraging a consistent bedtime in the days leading up to testing can make a big difference in their energy and concentration. In the morning, a healthy breakfast—whether at home or school—can help fuel their brain and keep them engaged. Even something simple like yogurt, fruit, or whole-grain toast can provide lasting energy.
It also helps to start the day on a positive note. A quick encouragement—like reminding them how hard they’ve worked—can boost their confidence. Letting them know that effort matters more than perfection can help ease any nerves they might have. Lastly, if possible, try to avoid scheduling appointments on test days so your child can stay focused and complete their assessments without interruption.
Most importantly, remind them that these tests are just one part of their learning journey. We are proud of our students for all they do every day, and we appreciate your support in helping them feel prepared, encouraged, and ready to do their best! Our state testing dates are listed below. Please make sure your student has something to eat in the morning and arrives to school on time. If your child has an early dismissal (before 10am) on a testing date, please let us know in advance so we can make other testing arrangements for them.
