Ott's Outlook
November 2025
As the calendar starts to turn from October to November, we are nearing the end of early voting and Election Day is right around the corner. As most of you know, there are two propositions on the ballot this November that directly impact Temple ISD. Those propositions appear on the ballot as Proposition A and Proposition B.
Proposition A would generate $2.75 million and focuses on safety and security measures on every campus in Temple ISD. Some of the major items included in Prop A are the addition of academy-trained police officers at every elementary school, security camera replacement, perimeter/courtyard fencing for campuses, and upgraded campus fire alarms. Proposition B addresses building permanent classrooms to account for growth and keep students out of portables and is asking for $119.7 million. Prop B would add 34 classrooms to the district. Sixteen of those classrooms would be at Temple High School, two would be added to Edwards Academy - along with a permanent space for the 18+ Special Education program, six would be built at Hector P. Garcia Elementary, and two at Kennedy-Powell Elementary. This proposition would also allow for renovation and additions for six classrooms at Meridith-Dunbar Early Childhood Academy, an additional gym at Temple High School to accommodate usage demands from growing programs, a dance classroom at Travis Science Academy, and other renovations and improvements across the district.
As a reminder, these propositions were developed by feedback and input from parents, taxpayers, residents, and other stakeholders at community meetings that started in February of this year. Voters can vote on each proposition separately. A voter ID card is not required. All you need is your driver’s license to vote.
The school district’s role leading into and during the election is to provide factual information about the propositions and their impact so that voters can make an informed decision when they go to the polls. Temple ISD has shared information through more than 50 community presentations. You can also find more information at the following link: www.tisd.org/Election2025. The district will also continue to share information through Election Day via social media, emails, text messages, and mail outs.
And while I cannot tell you how to vote, I can encourage you to exercise your right to vote and have your voice heard. Early voting continues through October 31st. Polling sites will be open from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm on Saturday, October 25th, from noon to 6:00 pm on Sunday, October 26th, and from 7:00 am to 7:00 pm next Monday through Friday (October 27-October 31). These times allow you to come in before or after work to vote. The Temple ISD Administration Building is one of several early voting sites across Bell County. Election Day is November 4th, and the polls will be open from 7:00 am-7:00 pm that day. Both the Temple ISD Administration Building and Meridith-Dunbar Early Childhood Academy will serve as polling sites on Election Day. Voters may cast their ballot at any voting location in Bell County, and do NOT have to vote in their precinct. You can find the complete list of polling locations here: Bell County Elections Polling Site effective 09.15.2025.pdf
Voter turnout for non-Presidential elections is typically less than 10%. Every vote matters, and every voice matters.
We are so grateful for the partnership of our families, community partners, business leaders, and other stakeholders. We all work together to provide the best for our students and staff, and we appreciate your support of Temple ISD.
Sincerely,
Bobby Ott
