BWMS Family Update
2/14/25
President's Day Weekend!
Special thanks to all the parents who participated in our final round of conferences on Thursday night. We appreciate the collaboration between home and school as many centered around goals for a successful end of this year as well as insights about courses for the 2025-26 school year. With that said, our school counselors will be meeting with 5th - 7th grade students in the coming weeks to collect related arts course requests. We encourage families to review our BWMS Program of Studies as well as the information below from our school counselors. We do anticipate sending home the course request sheets on March 13th for parents to review and request any family feedback be returned before spring break.
Have a great President's Day weekend,
~Mr. Josh Frame

School Counselor Updates
Dear Parents & Guardians of upcoming 7th & 8th graders,
You are receiving this information in preparation for your child to make related arts requests for the 2025-2026 school year.
You have, or will, receive a document from your child's teacher with selected information from the BWMS Program of Studies. It describes how students are placed in core classes, and how they request related arts classes. Please read through this with your student, specifically looking at the descriptions of the courses available to 8th graders. You can access the entire 2025-2026 Big Walnut Middle School Program of Studies on the Big Walnut Middle School web page. There is nothing you need to do at this time but be aware of the process.
The only related arts that are guaranteed are Band, Choir, and Orchestra. Any other request is subject to availability, and your student may be scheduled into a course they did not request.
Please note the timeline:
February 1-28: MS Counselors, will go into 6th and 7th grade classes, review the request process, and collect student related arts requests
March 13: MS letter and student request home to parents for review
March 20: MS letter and student requests returned to the middle school
Mid August: Schedules for 2025-26 available on PowerSchool
If you have questions, please reach out to AnnieDemith@bwls.net for incoming 6th, AlysonLyle@bwls.net for incoming 7th and LaurenGreenspan@bwls.net for incoming 8th grade students.
