Caught in the Act: Rocket Kindness!
At Richards, we know that small acts of kindness make a BIG impact! That’s why we’re excited to shine a spotlight on students who go out of their way to lift others up, lend a helping hand, and make our school a better place every single day.
Student of the Month: Ryin Reno
Ramona Heiney-State Farm in association with The Pizza Shack (West Plains) and Nadine’s Homemade Ice Cream are pleased to announce the Richards Rockets October student of the month Ryin Reno. Ryin is the son of Richard and Lacee Reno and in 4th grade. His teachers shared that he is such a hard worker. He is always paying attention and engaged in class. Ryin is always kind to others and willing to help. We are proud he is a Rocket! Congratulations Ryin.
Ears to Great Math Skills in Kindergarten!
Hands-On Learning with Non-Standard Measurement!
Our kindergarteners have been practicing their measurement skills using a fun, seasonal tool: ears of corn!
Students made predictions and measured their height to see how many ears of corn tall they were. They were also curious to find out how Principal Cody Swearengin measured up!
Pictured here is Mr. Swearengin next to his measurement of 11 ears of corn, alongside our shortest student, Luke Hogue (6 ears), and our tallest student, Thomas McBride (7 1/2 ears).
Mr. Swearengin is definitely someone our young Rockets will be looking up to for a long time!
Spooky Season Selfies in Middle School Art!
Just in time for Halloween, check out these incredible student creations from Mrs. Callahan's 7th and 8th-grade Drawing & Painting classes!
Our middle school artists got into the Halloween spirit by creating "Tim Burton Selfies." Taking inspiration from Tim Burton's iconic, spooky, and whimsical style, students captured their own likenesses with a delightfully eerie twist. They did a fantastic job using dramatic shading, exaggerated features, and unique character designs.
We have so many talented young artists at Richards bringing the spooky season to life! Outstanding work, 7th and 8th grade!
On Parade!
The ghosts, goblins, superheroes, and storybook characters have officially taken over Richards! Use this link to explore the whole album: Halloween Photo Album
We had an absolute blast watching our students—and staff!—strut their stuff during our Halloween parades today. From creative DIY outfits to hilarious group costumes, the Rocket spirit was out in full force. --Thanks to our PTO for supplying the treats!!!
IMPORTANT PARENT PICK UP ANNOUNCEMENT
Helping Traffic Flow: Updated Parent Pick-Up Times
Rockets Family, we need your help to make our afternoon parent pick-up line safer, smoother, and faster for everyone!
To help reduce traffic congestion along the route, we respectfully request that families follow a staggered pick-up schedule based on the grade level of your OLDEST child:
- 3:25 PM – 3:35 PM
- For families whose oldest child is in Kindergarten through 4th Grade.
- 3:40 PM – 3:50 PM
- For families whose oldest child is in 5th through 8th Grade (please wait until 3:40 to enter the line).
We feel that this small adjustment will space pickup out in order to create two waves of car lines and help with safety.
We truly appreciate your ongoing cooperation as we work together to make dismissal as smooth and safe as possible for our school family. Thank you!
