Principal's Message Principal's Message

What a wonderful start we have had to the school year! As we move into September, our students are settling into routines, building relationships, and doing some incredible learning. It has been exciting to see our classrooms filled with students who are engaged, growing, and becoming more confident each day.

September is an important month as we move beyond learning routines and begin building momentum academically. Our teachers are working hard to provide strong instruction each day, and we appreciate your partnership at home. Regular attendance, arriving on time, reading together, and simply asking, “What did you learn today?” all make a difference!

We are also continuing to reinforce what it means to ROCKS at Wylie! Whether students are in the classroom, cafeteria, hallway, playground, or bus, our ROCKS expectations give us a common language for making good choices, treating others well, and taking pride in our school. We encourage you to ask your child how they have shown ROCKS at school!

Most importantly, we want every child to know that they belong here, they are capable of great things, and there are adults at Wylie who believe in them.

Thank you for your continued partnership and for helping us make Wylie a place where students can learn, grow, and thrive. We are looking forward to a great September and another month of showing just how much We Love it Here at WES!

The character word for September is RESPECT!

Counselors will be visiting classrooms this month to reinforce this positive character trait. Teachers will also reinforce Respect throughout the month with videos and quotes from famous individuals.

Start with Hello Week will be celebrated September 21st through September 25th. Founded by Sandy Hook Promise after the 2012 tragedy, Hello Week was created to address social isolation in K-12 schools and to teach youth how to build empathy and foster connections with peers. Each day will have a dress theme, and we will have community agencies on campus to welcome students to school with a warm HELLO.

Attendance Matters Attendance Matters

📚✨ Attendance Matters at Wylie Elementary! ✨📚

September is national attendance month, and Wylie has set a goal of 97% attendance for the month. Last year we were able to meet our goal, and we once again are asking for your support. Please make sure your children are at school every day during the month of September. If students are able to once again reach 97% attendance during September, they will be rewarded with a popsicle and dance party!

Dads on Deck

Dads on Deck is a great opportunity for males in the community to get involved in the school. Male involvement from the community in an elementary school setting is incredibly valuable—not only for academic success, but for emotional development and social confidence in our students.
