Ms. Newton's Notes
Happy Monday!
We had a great first full week of school! In order to acknowledge this, we celebrated at the end of the day Friday with a short assembly explaining our RISE UP expectations for our gatherings and how we will honor each other for meeting those. We also engaged in several team building activities for classes in different locations around the school. Check out a few photos:

Student Opportunities at F.AVE!
IB Ambassadors - 5th Graders
5th grade students interested in being an IB Ambassador will find applications in their Monday communication folders. The IB Ambassador program combines traditional safety patrol jobs with other responsibilities for promoting and highlighting various aspects of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) at F.AVE. That includes school wide displays, video highlights of student action or highlights of classroom activities, and providing input on how to best communicate the goals of the program to the wider community.
Questions about becoming an IB Ambassador can be directed to either Ms. Hanson (lhanson@csdecatur.net) or Ms. Stewart (sstewart@csdecatur.net).
Girls on the Run Registration August 14-21
At GOTR, we inspire girls to recognize their inner strength and celebrate what makes them one of a kind. Trained coaches lead our groups through our research based curricula which includes dynamic discussions, activities, and running games. The ten-week program culminates with a celebratory 5K.
Program dates:
First week: Week of September 2
No GOTR Fall Break
5K: November 17
At GOTR, our goal is to make sure no girl is turned away from our program due to financial need. Participation fees are based upon household income, and start as low as $10. All girls who qualify for free or reduced lunch can receive sports bras, running shoes, and a free buddy code for the 5K.
Register your girl at: https://www.girlsontherunatlanta.org/Our-Programs
