The Sheiko Weekly Update

Good afternoon, Sheiko families!

We had another great week of learning at Sheiko! Classrooms were filled with collaboration, curiosity, and meaningful conversations as our Lakers continued to grow academically and socially. I am always so proud of the hard work of our students and the dedication of our staff.

Our Big Announcement this week is all about STEAM Night this Friday, sponsored by our amazing PTO! You will not want to miss it. This is a free event, and it will be held right here at Sheiko. It’s going to be an evening filled with hands-on learning, creativity, and fun for the whole family. We hope to see everyone there!

To those observing Ramadan, we hope your fasting is filled with reflection, peace, and renewed strength.

Michael Brody is a puppeteer who spoke to our first graders about problem resolution, coping and bullying scenarios this week. He was sponsored by the DTE Energy Foundation and the Greater West Bloomfield Community Coalition (www.gwbcoalition.org) Ask your student about the puppets and what they learned from them.

Mrs. McDowell will be reading the first chapter of "Frindle" to all students on February 27th.

Students are welcome to bring a copy of this book with them to school on this day to follow along. Then Mrs. McDowell will continue reading the book on Zoom on March 2nd-6th and March 9th and 10th.

What a fun way to read together AND this is the prequel to the Pine Tree book, "The Frindle Files", which Mrs. McDowell will be reading the first chapter of this book to all students on March 13th.

Then, we will continue reading on Zoom on March 16, 17, and 19th and March 23rd-25th!

Cirque Among Us is coming to Sheiko for an all-day, school-wide experience where every student participates in hands-on circus activities like juggling, balance, and teamwork. The day ends with a live student performance!

We Need Your Help!!

110 volunteers are needed for the entire day on

Friday May 22nd from 8:00AM-3:20PM

There will also be a parent information night on

Thursday May 21st from 5:30PM-7:30PM

Who Can Volunteer?

Parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and family members are all welcome.

An iChat form must be on file with the office.

PTO will provide lunch for all volunteers.
