Superintendent's Message

Happy May, Post Falls Families!

THANK YOU so much for your support in renewing our levy. These funds are fundamental to our operations, and I am sincerely grateful for those of you who took the time to support students through your vote.

"Testing season" is winding down, and our students are showing lots of growth. Their achievement is a testament to our amazing staff and your support at home. We wish you a summer of fun in the sun in beautiful North Idaho and look forward to seeing you again in September!

~ Dena Naccarato, Superintendent

Questions about your student's ISAT scores?

For all parents whose students are in grades 3-8 and 11, the ISAT Parent brochures provide information about how to interpret scores as they relate to Idaho standards in Mathematics, English/Language Arts and Science.

  • Understanding your Student's Math and English/Language Arts scores: LINK
  • Understanding your Student's Science scores: LINK

Information from the Idaho Department of Education:

This report shows how your student is performing overall on the Idaho Content Standards for ELA/Literacy and Mathematics and their performance in the categories that lead to these scores. The scores are only one aspect of a student’s academic performance, but serve as an important measure of progress.

Your student’s scores on the ISAT in ELA/Literacy and Mathematics do not affect his or her report card or ability to move on to the next grade level. We primarily use these scores to help families, schools, districts, and the state understand and improve student academic achievement in Idaho.

PFSD Hosts Region 1 and 2 Bus Road-e-o

For the first time since 2006, Post Falls School District hosted the North Idaho School Bus Road-e-o. Twenty-two local drivers competed in this "super bowl of bus driving" for an opportunity to qualify for the state-wide competition in Boise.

This friendly, but competitive yearly event allows school district bus drivers to showcase their skills and knowledge. The Road-e-o consists of a 50-question written knowledge test, pertaining to the laws and regulations for school bus drivers and the pretrip checks required by the Idaho Department of Transportation.

After completing the written exam, the contestants drive through a series of 10 skill test courses including:

  • parallel parking
  • railroad crossing
  • student pick up
  • off-set alley
  • straight line
  • diminishing clearance
  • curb line pull in
  • right turn
  • 90 degree back up

All of the events are scored for a possible total of 725 points.

Thank you to our PFSD Transportation Department for hosting!

Looking ahead to summer break . . .

As the sun starts to shine brighter and the days grow longer, it's the perfect time to pause, recharge, and soak up all the goodness that summer has to offer. While you're planning your summer adventures, be sure to make space for your mental and emotional well-being, too.

  1. Step outside and soak it in.
Nature has a way of lifting spirits. Whether you're hiking a scenic trail, tending to your garden, riding your bike, or simply lounging under a shady tree—fresh air can do wonders for your mood and creativity.
  2. Reconnect with your people.
Summer is a great time to slow down and invest in relationships. Host a game night, plan a picnic, enjoy a backyard BBQ, or just call someone you've been meaning to catch up with.
  3. Catch those ZZZs.
A steady sleep schedule can make all the difference. Use this season to reset your routine and give your body the rest it deserves.

Prioritize what makes you smile.
Start a new hobby, revisit a favorite pastime, or simply spend a few quiet moments doing something that brings you joy. Little pockets of happiness can go a long way.

If you or someone in your family is facing mental health or substance use challenges, you’re not alone. Care Solace, a free and confidential service provided by Post Falls School District, is available 24/7/365. Call 888-515-0595 or visit caresolace.com/pfsd to connect with care in your language, on your time.

Wishing you a joyful, restful, and sunny summer break. See you soon!
