Navo Band Newsletter

Thank you to all the families that came to see us last evening. We hope we answered any of your questions and got you excited about band this year! Please take a moment to review the information below and let us know if you have any questions.

Completed forms can be handed in to a director or emailed to Mr. Carnley at scarnley@dentonisd.org

As a requirement for both Honors and Symphonic Band, student will attend one 45-minute sectional each week. This time is used to work on their instrument specific fundamentals as week as their Region Music. Please check the schedule below to see when your student's sectional time is.

Again, coaches are already aware that this is a requirement for your student. They understand that some students will leave their practice to go to sectionals and then return.

AM Sectionals: Please enter through the back doors by the cafeteria. Door 15. Mr. Carnley or Ms. Irby will be by the door until 7am. Please do not be late as we cannot prop the door for late students and we must begin on time. If students need to return to Athletics after their sectional they may do so.

PM Sectionals: Students may come to the band hall after school and setup in their designated space.

Help Sessions: This time can be used to get extra one on one help. If your student is competing for a spot in the All Region or All District Band, this is a great opportunity to get some help on their music. Please sign up ahead of time to respect the director's time outside of work hours.

Our Google Calendar can be added to your phone right now! We will also be making printable versions that will be sent home with your students the first week of classes.

No School - Monday, September 1st

Band Fees Due - Friday, September 5th

All-Region Help Session - Saturday, September 20th

FanPledge Kickoff Party - Friday, September 25th 3:45pm-5:00pm

Students in the Honors and Symphonic Band that are auditioning for All Region should use the MakeMusic Software to help them learn their music. Ms. Irby has setup their music online for them to practice. The should check their Denton Gmail for a link to click and setup an account - it's FREE!

Joining the class will be one of Honors Band's first grades!

Please see the list from Mr. Miller on Percussion Supplies. Most will be the same from their beginner year.
