Dear Middle School Chargers and Families,

Spring is here! With the season of change upon us, I’m writing to share a few middle school-specific announcements and reminders.

This time of year always brings to mind the rural chores and responsibilities that come with the changing seasons. As the frost thaws and the ground softens, fence posts can become loose or wobbly—requiring us to check and tighten them. Similarly, spring is a good time for us to revisit and reinforce our school rules and expectations to keep everything running smoothly.

Please take a moment to read through this memo for important updates and reminders.

Thank you for your support—let’s make it a great spring together!

Mr. Joachim, K8 Principal

Join Us for Middle School Parent-Teacher Conferences!

We invite you to attend Middle School Parent-Teacher Conferences this Wednesday and Thursday. The open-house format allows you to meet with your child’s teachers and discuss their academic progress at your convenience.

During your visit, you'll have the opportunity to review grades, discuss test scores, view student work, and talk about study habits and behavior.

We value our partnership with you and look forward to supporting your child’s success. If you have any questions, please contact the front office.

Thank you for your continued support—we hope to see you there!

Our district has adopted and is implementing portions of the Family Life and Sexual Health (FLASH) curriculum across grades 4-8 and in High School Health courses. This curriculum is designed to provide age-appropriate, medically accurate information that supports student learning and promotes healthy decision-making.

In grades 4-8, lessons will be delivered by our physical education teacher and support staff and will follow a structured, age-appropriate sequence. Some topics will serve as an introduction, while others will build upon prior knowledge through review and deeper exploration.

Our goal is to equip students with the knowledge and skills to make informed, responsible choices while fostering respect and understanding.

FLASH Curriculum Preview FLASH Curriculum Preview

We value the partnership between home and school and invite you to preview the Family Life and Sexual Health (FLASH) curriculum. For the next 30 days, a copy of the curriculum will be available for review in the front office.

Additionally, we will host a Curriculum Preview Night on Tuesday, April 1, where families can explore lesson materials, ask questions, and learn more about how this curriculum supports student learning.

If you have any questions or would like more information, please contact the front office. We appreciate your support in helping us provide students with accurate, age-appropriate health education.

MIDDLE SCHOOL REMINDERS MIDDLE SCHOOL REMINDERS

Why No Cell Phones...

Cell phones can be a significant distraction to learning, often reducing focus and impacting academic performance. Additionally, access to inappropriate content, cyberbullying, and misuse of social media during school hours present serious concerns for student well-being and maintaining a positive school environment. By addressing these issues, we are committed to creating a safe, respectful, and focused learning space for all students.

To support this goal:

  • If a staff member sees a phone out during class, they will collect it and take it to the office. Failure to comply with this request will result in an in-school suspension.

  • Students can play it safe by choosing to check their phone in at the front office. We are also setting up a charging station for student use.

Thank you for partnering with us to support a positive and focused learning environment!

Thanks for working on cleaning up our campus...figuratively and literally.

  • If students are heard using poor language they will be assigned campus clean-up.

  • If the language is directed to a staff member students will be assigned a full day of ISS.

  • Hall passes will be granted for bathroom use as needed.

  • Limited 3-5 minutes.

  • No hall passes will be issued during the first and last ten minutes of class.

  • Students are expected to use hall passes appropriately. Misuse will be documented with a referral for skipping.
