NHS Principal News
September 13, 2022

Hello Clipper Families
Last Friday, as our nation marked the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, members of our NHS community came together in a number of meaningful ways to remember the lives that were lost and those whose lives that were forever changed.
I was especially proud to see so many of our students take an active role in helping our school and community remember this important moment in our history.
- Thomas Rich, our Student Council President, addressed our school at 8:46 AM on Friday and read the Thomas Pecorelli Memorial.
- Field of Honor Ceremony: On Sunday, September 13, students, Lydia Boddy, Worth Greene, and Shea Hoffman delivered an address to those in attendance at the ceremony. In working with the Newburyport Fire Department last spring, these students helped develop the casing for a piece of the World Trade Center that was donated to Newburyport.
- Bay Schumacher, Lilly Curtis, and Nora Baker sang the Star-Spangled Banner at the Newburyport ceremony commemorating the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001.
- In coordination with the Newburyport Police Honor Guard, our Band, Football Team, and Athletics Department, a heartfelt memorial ceremony took place before Friday night's football game.
Thank you to everyone who helped make these tributes possible, and especially to our students, staff, and community members who stepped forward to help our NHS community remember.

WAY TO GO STUDENTS!
Last Friday night was our first home football game of the year. Over the past few months, several members of our senior class have worked hard to ensure that our student fan section is a fun, spirited, and inclusive experience for everyone. Their work has helped promote positive sportsmanship while bringing great energy and spirit to our athletic events and school activities.
For the past two years, our student fan section has been ranked among the top five in Massachusetts, thanks in large part to the leadership and commitment of our students.
I'd like to commend Blair Fox, Luke MacIsaac, and Henry Waddell for serving as our fall leads and helping us get the season off to a great start. We are looking forward to building on the energy they generated as we head into this week's Homecoming game, followed by our Homecoming Dance at 8:00 PM.
VOLUNTEER AT THE SNACK SHACK – A GREAT WAY TO MEET OTHER PARENTS
