This summer, our students are getting ready for an unforgettable adventure across Spain—with an exciting extension into Morocco! From the vibrant streets of Barcelona to the historic heart of Madrid and the cultural richness of southern Spain, this trip is designed to bring language and learning to life in the most authentic way possible.

Our journey begins in Barcelona, where students will explore iconic landmarks like La Sagrada Familia, stroll down Las Ramblas, and even take part in a fun scavenger hunt through the city. From there, we’ll travel to Madrid, experiencing the energy of Spain’s capital while visiting historic sites and enjoying traditional tapas.

As we head south, students will ride a high-speed train to Córdoba to witness the breathtaking Mezquita before continuing on to Seville. There, they’ll immerse themselves in Andalusian culture—exploring charming neighborhoods, climbing the Giralda Tower, and enjoying a live flamenco performance.

The adventure continues along the Costa del Sol, including a visit to the stunning Alhambra in Granada, where students will walk through centuries of history in one of Spain’s most famous landmarks.

The experience doesn’t stop there—students will cross the Mediterranean into Morocco, visiting the coastal city of Ceuta and exploring Tétouan. This unique opportunity allows students to experience a completely different culture, cuisine, and way of life—all in one trip.

This isn’t just a sightseeing tour—it’s a chance for students to use their Spanish in real-world situations, connect with new cultures, and build lifelong memories with their classmates. We can’t wait to see our students grow as global learners on this incredible journey!

There is a food pantry currently open for residents of both Maxwell and Collins located at the high school in Maxwell. Right now it is open for visitors on day when the school is open from 7:30AM-4:00PM. This will change starting June 1st to reflect our summer days and hours. In the pantry, there are frozen meats' cheeses, soups, and fruit. There is also a large quantity of other dry goods like canned vegetables, pasta, rice and cereal, etc.

This is open from everyone. If you cannot be here during those hours, please contact us for other arrangements. Please contact Shane Arp at the high school (sarp@collins-maxwell.k12.ia.us or 515-387-1115) or Ashley Shivers at the elementary (ashivers@collins-maxwell.k12.ia.us or 641-385-2446) to set up a time to come in.

We want to make sure everyone knows about Nevada Food at First. They are a volunteer organization that will deliver free hot meals that are ready to eat on Monday and Thursday evenings at the Elementary, MS/HS, and at the Rolling Hills Mobile Home Park north of Maxwell.

On March 11th, the National Honor Society held their annual induction ceremony where they inducted four new members. The new members are Noah Andersen, Lillian Baldwin, Caleb Coffelt and Jacob Dell. Membership in the Collins-Maxwell Chapter of the National Honor Society has been earned by these candidates through the effective demonstration of the four qualities that serve as standards for the Society: Scholarship, Service, Leadership and Character. Congratulations to our new members!

On March 27th, the National Honor Society members packaged meals at Meals from the Heartland. The group packaged 1,872 meals. The students had a great time and then enjoyed interacting and visiting with all of the volunteers.

Thank you to everyone who came to the Spring Blood Drive. We were able to collect 12 units of blood, that is up to 36 lives sustained or saved! Please plan to donate at our Fall Blood Drive!
