MAP Testing Begins April 13th (All 3rd-8th Graders)

The annual Missouri MAP tests start this week for our 5th and 8th graders and will continue next week for all 3rd through 8th graders. We kindly ask that you plan ahead to ensure your child gets a good night's sleep each night and arrives at school on time each morning, as testing will be taking place in the morning.

Week of April 13th - Science (5th & 8th grade only)

Week of April 20th - ELA (All 3rd-8th graders)

Week of April 27th - Math (All 3rd-8th graders)

In order to maintain a focused testing environment, students are not allowed to bring cell phones or smart watches into the classroom during testing. Please remind your child to leave these items at home or to speak with a teacher about securely storing them during the assessment.

If you have not yet completed the encouragement letter for your 3rd-8th grader, please don't forget to do so by next Monday, May 20th. You can reach out to Ms. Roland with any questions about MAP testing or letters for students.

Final Citizens of the World Friday Morning Sing - May 1st

As we look ahead to our rebranding this spring, we’re also celebrating the first 10 years of our school as Citizens of the World, as well as the traditions that have shaped our community and culture. Friday Morning Sing began as a full-school assembly where students, staff, and families gathered each week to connect and celebrate together, and it remains an important part of our elementary school program today.

To mark our 10th anniversary, we’re making this tradition a little more special. We can think of no better way to celebrate than with an extended, full-school Friday Morning Sing - our last as Citizens of the World! We’ll be welcoming back some of our founding families and staff to join us, too!

Please plan to join us on Friday, May 1 from 8–10 am. More information to come!

Family Survey

Every spring we seek input from our current families to learn what is working at Citizens and what needs improvement. We intentionally reflect on this feedback and make adjustments as needed. In addition to this family survey, our 3rd-8th graders and staff members will be completing similar surveys to give their input.

We would like to hear from every Citizens family! If you haven't yet done so, please take 5-10 minutes this week to complete this family survey.

Please Complete This Year's Family Survey!

Night on Broadway - Thursday, May 14th

Please save the date for this year's Night on Broadway on Thursday, May 14th at 6 pm! This year we will be holding the event a few blocks away at Kansas City Young Audiences (3732 Main Street), and it will feature an art show, choir concert, majorette performance, and parent vs. student debates in both English and Spanish. We also have a few other surprises in the works! More info coming soon!

2026-2027 Enrollment

The re-enrollment period has now ended, and students' spots for next year are no longer guaranteed. Re-enrollment through your Parent Portal will still be available if there is not a waitlist in your child's grade, and you can find instructions for completing re-enrollment by visiting the Re-Enrollment page of the CWCKC website.

If your family will not be returning for the 2026-2027 school year or if your plans have changed, please email Ms. Lineberry or text/call her at 816-550-5276 with this information, as we are required to account for every student's intentions for next year.

Offers for next year are already being sent out to newly enrolling students! If you are interested in enrolling a sibling who will be a NEW STUDENT at Citizens next year, please be sure to complete a SchoolAppKC application soon to secure their seat for next year! Don't forget to add your current student's name on the sibling question so that sibling priority is applied!

If you have any questions, please contact Katy Lineberry right away.
