Preparing Students for College, Careers, and Success after High School

Be a CTAE Pathway Completer Be a CTAE Pathway Completer

Opportunities available for ALL students

What is a CTAE Pathway?

A pathway is a series of three specialized courses that provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to succeed after high school. These courses expose students to careers, teach them employability skills, and prepare them to enter the workforce, a university, a technical college, military service, or a registered apprenticeship. A pathway completer is a student who satisfactorily completes all three courses in the same pathway. Students can complete more than one pathway in high school. Pathway completers are more prepared to enter the workforce , and CTAE prepares students for careers that are high-skill, high-wage, and high-demand.

What is Work-based Learning?

WBL connects classroom learning to the workplace through courses, activites, and employment with community partners. The goal of WBL is to help students develop skills that can be applied in the workplace and postsecondary education.

JCHS Film Students are Published by NOVA JCHS Film Students are Published by NOVA

Jasper County High School Film recently had four student-produced science journalism features published by NOVA, the American popular science television program broadcast on PBS for over 50 years.

During the 2023-24 school year as part of the NOVA Science Studio program, 14 second and third year JCHS Film students investigated the relationship between "big data" and its applications and impacts on issues in their local community of Jasper County. They interviewed local experts and stakeholders on food insecurity, zoning laws, business development, and pollution in Jackson Lake.

“The NOVA Science Studio program really helped me learn more about my community by connecting me with people who I might have not otherwise spoken to, and get a better idea of what’s happening in my community,” said JCHS Film student Hunter Cleveland.

The students' videos, each ranging about 4 minutes, are posted on the JCHS Film YouTube channel as well as on the PBS NOVA Science Studio YouTube channel at https://www.youtube.com/@NOVAScienceStudio

Floral Design with FFA Floral Design with FFA

Preparing for student competitions is big business in FFA!

Students began preparing in early August for the Career and Leadership Development Event in late September. Several students attended a Floral Design Mini Clinic at Upson-Lee Ag Center in August, and then they took a trip after school for some floral design practice with an industry professional, Mrs. Stephanie Puckett, owner of Crazy Daisy's. We appreciate help from our business partners!
