Q3 Report Cards- Available in Student Folders
Third quarter report cards were uploaded to student folders on Friday, March 20. All students have a student folder that has been shared with them through Google Drive. Teachers are no longer able to email reports to email addresses outside of PCS so parents will need to use their child's school email to access reports. Students were notified through email that a folder has been shared with them. The name of their folder is "last name, first name." You can also find it in their Google Drive by searching their name or by clicking on "shared with me" on the left side of Google Drive.
The best place to find updated grades is in Infinite Campus. Grades are updated in Infinite Campus weekly and students can always see what assignments are missing. If you do not have access to Infinite Campus, please contact Ms. Carr (carre@person.k12.nc.us) our data manager for support. If you need to schedule a conference with any of your child's teachers, please email them directly.

Daybreak Mental Health Services
Anxiety affects nearly 1 in 3 teens — and the signs aren't always obvious. Mood changes, trouble sleeping, avoidance, and physical complaints like headaches or stomachaches can all point to something deeper.
This month, Daybreak Health and Person County Schools are sharing a short, clinician-led resource on how to recognize anxiety in teens and strategies to help them manage it — including breathing techniques, grounding exercises, and how to open the conversation without dismissing what they're feeling.
Individual Teletherapy
If you’d like to explore more support, you also have access to confidential, school-partnered teletherapy with Daybreak.
Our district is proud to partner with Daybreak Health to offer teletherapy to students ages 5-19.
-No cost with in-network Medicaid/Medi-Cal
-Low copays for most other plans

State Employees Credit Union $10,000 Scholarship
SECU Foundation established the People Helping People four-year scholarship program to help North Carolina public high school students attend college. SECU Foundation takes an active role in assisting communities across North Carolina and truly believes in “People Helping People.” Each of the 115 North Carolina Local Education Agencies (“LEAs”)/School Districts will receive a minimum of one scholarship for a senior to attend one of the 16 constituent campuses of the University of North Carolina System.
Although the SECU Foundation Scholarship program recognizes academic achievement, the People
Helping People Scholarship has a much broader purpose - recognizing leadership, integrity, and community involvement.
The SECU Foundation People Helping People Scholarship is only available to graduating public high
school seniors who are either current members of State Employees’ Credit Union (“SECU”) or the
child of a parent/guardian who is a member of SECU at the time of application. Membership eligibility does not include Local Government Federal Credit Union or NC Press Association Credit Union members. Preference will be given to students whose parents or guardians and family members are public sector employees (state, local or federal government; public health; public education) who live and work in North Carolina. Additionally, preference will be given to those majoring in public service degree programs (such as Public Health, Education, Public Administration, and Public Policy).
While not a requirement, identification of a financial need, as determined by submission of a Free
Application for Federal student Aid (FAFSA), will be taken into consideration by the selection
committee. Scholarship recipients in good academic standing will be able to receive the scholarship up to a maximum of eight (8) consecutive semesters at the same university.

PCS Attendance Initiative Every Minute Counts!
Every Minute Counts! Attendance matters now more than ever. Chronic absenteeism—missing 10% or more of the school year, regardless of the reason—puts students at academic and social risk. Research shows that even in early grades, frequent absences can make it hard to read on grade level, stay engaged, and ultimately graduate on time.
Our district, like many others nationwide, has seen an increase in chronic absences since the pandemic. As partners in education, we ask families to help us prioritize attendance by scheduling appointments outside of school hours, keeping routines consistent, and reaching out when challenges arise.
Together, we can ensure every child is present, supported, and ready to succeed—because every minute truly counts.

2025-2026 Calendar (Spanish)
Piedmont Community College Calendar
We align with the traditional school calendar with PCS; the first day for students is Monday, August 18, 2025. PCSVA utilizes the Google Workspace platform where teachers will instruct using both Google Meet and Google Classroom. Students enrolled in grades 9-12 also participate in courses through NC Schools of Science and Math. Courses for students who are enrolled at PCC will begin on Monday, August 18, 2025. PCSVA courses are asynchronous on Wednesdays.
Our program is designed to focus on effectively providing a high-quality, virtual learning environment for all students and we ask that families commit to being enrolled for the entire school year. Student engagement is critical in the virtual learning environment; therefore, students will be expected to keep their cameras on during synchronous (live) instruction with their teachers and peers. Attendance will be taken based on this policy. There will also be opportunities daily for students to work asynchronously and having parent/family support is strongly encouraged.
While we are able to instruct our students virtually, all district and state-mandated assessments will need to be conducted in person onsite at our location. Assessment schedules and detailed instructions will be provided in advance of each district and state-mandated assessment for 6-12 students.
