Superintendent’s Update
Schools Reopen Monday, March 2nd
February 27, 2026
Dear Plymouth Public Schools Community,
I hope this message finds you and your loved ones safe and well. This has been an unprecedented and, at times, challenging week for our community. I sincerely hope that each of you has remained safe throughout the storm and that you are finding yourselves in good condition as we prepare to return to school.
I am writing to provide you with an update regarding conditions across our schools and to share that we are well-positioned to open on Monday morning.
Over the past several days, our School Department has worked closely with Public Works, Police, Fire, and the Town Manager’s office to respond to the impacts of this significant weather event. The level of teamwork, communication, and shared commitment to our community has been exceptional. Every department has worked with a common goal: ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, staff, and families.
Red Cross Shelter at Plymouth North High School
The Red Cross shelter at Plymouth North High School officially closed at noon today. During the storm, 156 residents utilized the shelter. We are proud to have been able to support members of our community in this way, and we are deeply grateful to our staff and Town partners who helped ensure that families had a safe, warm, and welcoming place to stay during the height of the storm.
Facilities, Snow Removal & Building Readiness
I would like to especially recognize the extraordinary work of our Facilities Department. Over the last several days, this team has worked tirelessly, and often in extremely difficult conditions, to assist with snow removal across our campuses, clear entrances and walkways, monitor roofs and drainage areas, and carefully evaluate each building for any storm-related concerns.
All school buildings have been thoroughly inspected and are in good condition for occupancy. Power has been fully restored to all schools. While some minor debris will continue to be cleared over the next few days, there are no issues that would prevent us from safely welcoming students and staff back into our buildings. The professionalism, responsiveness, and dedication of our facilities team have been instrumental in ensuring a smooth and safe reopening.
Transportation & Bus Stop Safety
The Town’s Department of Public Works continues snow removal efforts across Plymouth, with additional support assisting in clearing priority areas. Crews have worked closely with the School Department to address bus stop locations, particularly where larger groups of students gather. Bus stops are being expanded and roadways widened where necessary to ensure safe bus access and safe student loading and unloading on Monday morning. This work will continue over the next couple of days to further improve conditions.
Reporting Snow or Storm-Related Concerns
For any snow or storm-related concerns, including snow removal issues, downed limbs, or flooding, you can call the Town Snow Line at (508) 830-4162, ext. 12101, and leave a detailed message. You may also report concerns via SeeClickFix at https://bit.ly/4cBMG0I ; including photos is strongly encouraged to help Town crews address issues more efficiently.
In summary, our buildings are ready, power has been restored, and transportation routes have been prioritized. The collaboration between school and Town departments has been outstanding, and every decision has been made with student and staff safety at the forefront.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday. Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and continued support throughout this week. Most importantly, I hope you and your families remain safe and well.
Sincerely,
Christopher Campbell
