Report an Absence

Pack Leaders' Post Pack Leaders' Post

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to our school community for the overwhelming support shown once again for this year’s Terry Fox Run. Year after year, your generosity has helped raise an incredible amount of money in support of cancer research. This cause unites us all, as cancer has touched the lives of so many, and together we continue to carry forward Terry’s legacy of hope, strength, and determination.

We had a very special guest with us this week to kick off our Terry Fox Run. Fred Fox, Terry's older brother, came to Lakeland Ridge to share Terry's life story and mission with us. It was an incredibly moving presentation where all 700+ young Canadians sat silently as they learned about the life and legacy of Terry Fox.

Fred's message was clear - there is a hero inside of each and every one of us. Terry did not set out on his Marathon of Hope to become famous or make money. He wanted to make a difference and it was his determination that inspired a nation to rally around his cause.

As we continued to hear stories of our students taking the initiative to raise donations for the Terry Fox Foundation through lemonade stands, rainbow loom stands or simply walking door to door, we can be certain that the Marathon of Hope will continue.

We are so proud of our community!

Signing In and Out at the School Office Signing In and Out at the School Office

Parents, please remind your children to sign out at the office prior to leaving school grounds regardless of what time of day they are exiting. We are finding that students are calling or texting home from their devices, getting permission from parents allowing them to leave, then leaving without first letting the office know. Students should be making these calls from the office, and then signing out before they go, so we can update their attendance.

If you call or email the school to give permission for your child to leave, we make a note of it, but if your child does not check out on their way, their attendance does not get updated and you’ll likely end up with an email reporting their absence.

If students arrive to school late, or return to the school following an appointment, they need to check in to the office so we can update their attendance and make note of the time they came in.

Thank you for helping us keep all of our wonderful students safe and accounted for. They are our reason for being here every day!

Medication Management Medication Management

If your child requires medication to be accessible at the school such as Tylenol, Advil, Benadryl, Reactine or Tums, please fill out the Medication Management Plan forms below.

Students are not permitted to administer their own medication at school. All medication should be provided in its original packaging and labelled with student’s name. All medication will be stored in the office with administering recorded.

Door Locking Procedures Door Locking Procedures

All exterior doors, including the front entrance doors, will always be locked, and opened only for student and visitor access during designated school entry times.

Our front entrance is equipped with a doorbell and camera linked to the front office. Visitors seeking entry into the school are required to use the main entrance and ring the bell for assistance. Please remember to sign in at the office on our iPad. For safety reasons, it is imperative that we are aware of who is in the building and where there are helping out just in case of an emergency.

Fairness and Safety in Sport Act Fairness and Safety in Sport Act

The Government of Alberta has passed the Fairness and Safety in Sport Act which went into effect September 1, 2025.

Parents of every athlete 12 years of age or older who wish to play on a female-only sports team or in a female-only league will be required to confirm in writing that the athlete meets all the eligibility requirements as set out in the Fairness and Safety in Sport Act and Fairness and Safety in Sport Regulation before they are able to compete. At Lakeland Ridge, eligibility declarations will be sent out to guardians once team rosters have been established.

You can find more information on this legislation on this website: Ensuring fairness and safety in sport | Alberta.ca.
