Cohort Update "Protect" -2022-
"History in the Making" (1/18/21)
- Protect -
As we celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. today, it allows me to reflect upon what is most important in my life. It is certainly not material items, social status nor places that I have been able to go and experience. What means the most to me is the freedoms I enjoy and the relationships that I have built within the Warrior Nation. Being able to use knowledge to help my students and staff, interact with people who are like me and not like me, and having the ability to move about my daily life knowing that my efforts to expand my circle of influence is not in done vain. So for me, my goal each day is to PROTECT all of the freedoms, privileges and rights that have been granted to me by so many before me. I choose to honor those who have fought battles that I only really understand by reading about from third party information. This is what I will PROTECT. I will continue to PROTECT the rights that have been put in place for children of all races to come to school and get the education, experiences, and love they deserve. And I will PROTECT each and every student that I have the opportunity to do so. Team, I challenge you to figure out what or who is most important to you and PROTECT it with all of your power. Be the shield of protection that this world needs and stand tall in the midst of chaos - you may be the next great figure that we all look to for grace and guidance. Have a wonderful week Warriors and PROTECT all that is important to you!
Much Love,
Mr. Russell - Cohort Dean

On Wednesday, January 20th, from 5-7 pm we will have make-up item distribution pick-up for specific Semester II courses. Students should have received communication from their teacher if they have materials that need to be picked up. When arriving for your materials, please use lot 7 on the West end of our football field to park and enter in through Door 14. As a reminder, masks are required to enter our building, and we also encourage you to practice social distancing from other students and families while in our building.

Good morning Warriors and welcome back to this fast week of learning and growth. As Mr. Russell talked about PROTECTING what means the most to you, I want to add something to that. This also means PROTECTING yourself from foolishness and failure. Team, each of you have been put on this earth to be amazing and it is your responsibility to get up each day and let your light shine bright! Take the day by the horns and make your destiny a destination and be dedicated to it. Each of you are exceptional...just make the decision to let your light shine! We know you can do it!
- Never stop trying...
- Never stop believing...
- Never give up on yourself...
- Because you are enough...
Guess who Loves you?

IMPORTANT INFO ABOUT WORK PERMITS - Remember, if you are in need of a work permit you must begin in the Walker Career Center office or from me on side B. You will receive a yellow card and a white "Intent to Employ" form. Be sure to fill out each form completely and return both to the cohort office to be reviewed by Mr. Russell. The Intent to Employ form must be signed by the employer, student and a parent or legal guardian. In order for Mr. Russell to strongly consider you to work in the community, you must be in good academic and behavioral standing with the school. After Mr. Russell approves and signs your work permit forms, you will then turn them in to the WCC office before or after school to receive your completed work permit. Finally, you are eligible to work and earn a paycheck! Make sure you are PROTECTING you privilege to work by being all that you need to be in the community and in the classroom! Looking forward to seeing you!!!!
Sending all my Love to the class of 2022,
Mrs. Boyd
- From Ms. Reynolds & Mr. Howe -
Class of 2022 - it is time to get focused and PROTECT all of the success and opportunities to shine that are in front of you. Remember we are both here to help you along this journey so don't hesitate to reach out and let us assist you.
21st Century Scholars
With so much going on and so much change this year, it's easy to let things slip through the cracks. If you're a 21st Century Scholar, though, it's important that we keep that in our field of vision - Protect what you have earned and deserve. Mr. Clark will begin working with our scholars soon, but here are some things to keep in mind about the program's requirements.
GPA
Students must have a GPA of 2.5 or above at the time of graduation to qualify. If you are currently below this line, these last few semesters are going to be crucial. If you are currently below a 2.0, it's crucial that you put your very best foot forward this semester.
College Entrance Exam
21st Century Scholars must take SAT or ACT this year, which is also highly recommended if you plan to attend a 4 year university. We've put together an informational Canvas page to assist with this process, and you can access that by clicking here.
Scholarships
You are expected to begin your search for additional scholarships. While some scholarship opportunities are limited to senior year, there are some that are available now. Click here to view our junior year scholarship information page.
College Visit
As you may have guessed, the risks and precautions related to the Covid-19 pandemic prevents students from touring college campuses in person. Fortunately, there are resources available to allow students to tour and view a school's campus and its many facilities from the comfort and safety of home. The most popular of these is a website called youvisit.com. This website houses interactive virtual tours for colleges around the country. You will need to create an account, but you can do so using your Warren profile.
Keep up the good work and remember that your cohort team is cheering for and PROTECTING you!!
Don't forget that we love you...
Don't forget that we're proud of you...
Most importantly, don't forget to love and be proud of yourself!
We LOVE you 2022...

Mr. Howe (L-Z)
