EECV Family Newsletter
September 2025
A Message from the Principal
Dear Families,
Welcome to a new school year! September is a time of fresh beginnings, new friendships, and exciting discoveries, and we are thrilled to have your little ones back with us — or joining us for the first time!
The first few weeks of preschool and kindergarten are all about helping children feel safe, loved, and confident in their new environment. Our amazing teachers have been working hard to create classrooms that are welcoming, engaging, and full of opportunities to learn through play and exploration. We’ve already seen so many smiles, curious questions, and proud moments — from trying something new to making a new friend.
This month, we will focus on building routines, learning classroom expectations, and developing social-emotional skills like sharing, listening, and using kind words. These foundational skills help set the tone for a successful and joyful year ahead.
Thank you for partnering with us in your child’s early learning journey. Your involvement — whether it's helping with drop-off, reading at home, or simply talking about your child’s day — makes a huge difference. We look forward to a wonderful year of growth and fun together.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely,
Jackie Plantner, Principal

School Wide Class Dojo Sign Up
In an effort for our school office to communicate with families about upcoming events, school closures, and other important messages, EECV now has set up groups using Class Dojo to message with parents. This will not replace individual classroom groups you may have already joined. These messages will be of a school wide importance or reminders about something that affects the school as a whole.
If you would like to sign up click the correct link below or scan the correct QR code for your child's session.
We are excited to try this new way to communicate with our families!

Attendance Matters
This year, Elyria has partnered with the Cleveland Browns Stay in the Game program. This program encourages students and families to make getting to school a priority. At EECV, we're focusing on improving student attendance because consistent attendance is key to academic achievement and social development. Students who attend school regularly are more likely to succeed academically and develop essential social skills. September is attendance awareness month. We will be celebrating by taking an attendance pledge, dancing to celebrate being at school and talking about the importance of coming to school each day.
Here are a few tips to help you and your student get to school each day:
- Set a regular bedtime and morning routine.
- Lay out clothes and backpack the night before.
- Schedule medical appointments and extended trips when school is not in session.
- Sign up for the school bus if you need help with getting your student to school.
EECV's 3 BEs!
Be Respectful - Be kind and be a good friend.
Be Responsible - Follow school rules and be safe.
Be Ready to Learn - Be a good listener.

Visitor Information
Please call the office to report your child's absence at 284-8250 before 9:15 AM. Our phone has 24-hour voicemail so that you may call and leave a message anytime. Please leave a voicemail if no one answers the phone in the office; voicemails are frequently checked and the office will receive your message.
Please make sure you always have a photo ID with you, when you come to the school, this is for the safety of our students.
The Main Office of any school building is a hub of activity. Students and staff are always on the go, in and out of the space throughout the school day.
It’s an active place for regular check-ins and meetings with students, as well as staff conferences and daily interactions with school principals and counselors. The Main Office is also a confidential space at times for conversations and interactions between school personnel and students.
Parents and caregivers are part of the equation, too. For any number of reasons, parents may be asked to come to their child’s school during the day. When that happens, parents should follow the district’s visitor procedures by using the school’s main entrance buzzer and intercom system to gain entrance to the school, and then signing in at the front desk.
If parents/caregivers do not have a meeting at the school but still need to come to the school during the day to see their child or to speak to a staff member, call-ahead notice or an appointment is required.
This ensures parents will be seen in a timely manner and upholds the safety practices of the school. To contact the Main Office, please call 440-284-8250.
