Congratulations to 5th Grader, Christina
🎶 Congratulations to Christina, who has been selected for the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) National Treble Honor Choir! She will represent La Ballona, CCUSD, and Culver City in Minneapolis in March 2027, singing alongside talented young musicians from across the country. After performing with the ACDA Western Region Honor Choir last spring, Christina is taking her love of singing to the national stage. Her hard work and dedication have paid off! Thank you to her family, her music teacher, and our district for supporting her musical journey. We are so proud of you, Christina!
Update on Elementary Arts Education & Upcoming Planning
Dear CCUSD Elementary Families,
Please read below for an update regarding our elementary arts programs.
No elementary staffing site changes will take place during the current school year 26-27.
Based on the main concerns surfaced from the elementary arts Q & A and other communications that we received, here are our next steps as a district:
Community Feedback and Input
Our Parent Arts Survey is still open, and we have received ~150 responses districtwide so far. Your perspective is essential in guiding our work. In addition to parent feedback, elementary teacher surveys are currently out, student surveys (elementary & secondary) will be coming soon, and we will be conducting additional classroom observations to gather complete insights across our campuses.
2. Strategic Arts Committee
We are forming a dedicated committee which will include site leadership, arts teachers, general education teachers, parents, students, and community members to help review and shape our Strategic Arts Plan to be more current to our district needs. More information will be available in November if you would like to apply for the committee.
3. Staffing, Resources, and the Use of Prop 28 Funding
We are analyzing our annual Proposition 28 arts funding allocation to ensure funds are used efficiently, sustainably, and in alignment with state guidelines and school site needs. Expenditure plans will be posted per the AB2440 guidelines.
Thank you for your ongoing support of arts education for our students.
A Message for our Preschool and Toddler Families
Dear Preschool and Toddler Families,
This is a friendly reminder of our drop-off and pick-up procedures. We appreciate your cooperation in following these guidelines to help maintain a safe and organized environment for all children.
Morning Drop-Off
- Drop-off takes place between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.
- If you arrive after 8:30 a.m., please check in through the school’s front office before proceeding to your child's classroom.
Afternoon Pick-Up
- Pick-up takes place between 3:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.
- If you arrive between 3:00 and 3:15 p.m., please walk directly to your child's classroom. Do not wait outside the classroom or remain on campus before pick-up. Families of preschool students may not wait on campus for their elementary children.
- If you arrive early and would like to wait until pick-up time, please wait off campus and return during the designated pick-up window.
These procedures are in place to minimize interactions with other students on campus and to help maintain a safe and orderly environment for everyone.
Families with State Contracts: Please remember to adhere to the contracted hours approved for your child.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us maintain a safe environment for all students and staff. We appreciate your continued support!

CCUSD Sponsor-a-Family December Holiday Program
CCUSD recognizes that the holiday season can be stressful for families who are most in need. Again this year, CCUSD School and Family Support Services is coordinating various district-wide efforts to support our CCUSD families in need during the holiday season to increase the joy and lessen the stress.
We are excited to announce our Annual Sponsor-a-Family Program. The program will enable families/groups of families/organizations to provide gifts for a CCUSD family in need. Both families will remain anonymous. Prior to the Thanksgiving break, sponsor families will receive the list of wishes and needs for each member of one family. Our request is that the sponsor family/group of families/organizations purchase at least one wish and one need for each member listed. If you provide a gift card, please include the activation receipt. All gifts will be dropped off at the CCUSD District Office Annex (located on Van Buren between the Palihotel and Lin Howe Elementary school) on December 10 and 11. School and Family Support Services staff will distribute the gifts on December 15 and 16. If you are able to make the holiday season special for another family, please click on the link below and complete the form.
