Growing a Garden!
Week of February 3rd
Happy Groundhog Day Duval Families!
Compliment Day was a big success, with a final tally of 783 compliments received over the course of the day on Friday! Students earned a movie day in the cafe at lunch this week!
Family BINGO night/Book Fair was also a huge success! We enjoyed seeing many families having some quality time together and winning fun prizes! Thank you to all who participated and the many staff who volunteered!

Duval Values Project
The next step in this project is to tabulate all the words and discuss them with Staff, Parents (at a PTO meeting), and School Council. The final list will become the core values of Duval, and act as the basis for all we do at school. Thank you all for your help in laying the foundation with us!
Mosaic Mural Project
Many thanks to our PTO and a handful of Grant Givers, students will be working with professional Boston-area Artist, Josh Winer, in March. Together, they'll create a 15 foot long tile mosaic celebrating Duval and the "Growing a Garden" theme this year. The permanent artwork will be a beautiful lasting statement about the uniqueness of our school.
We invite parents/guardians to come in and work with Josh, Mrs. Brown, and the kids. Trust me, it's a once in a lifetime, really fun experience to help kids in action making magic. If you are able or interested, please sign up HERE. https://forms.gle/cWZnzNVqWcN7d9TK7

PTO NEWS!
A huge thanks to everyone who helped make last week's book fair a huge success! We sold over $9,000 worth of books, which I believe is a new record for Duval! Your purchases also helped us put nearly $3,000 worth of new books into circulation in our library and classrooms!
With February here, it must be Boosterthon time! Registration and pledging are already open even before Tuesday's official kickoff. Remember we are aiming for a goal of $25,000 to fund our upcoming artist-in-residence program, culminating in a beautiful new mural designed and created by our very own students and families! Please register at mybooster.com and let's work together to crush that goal! Volunteers: we will send out the schedule for the day of the Fun Run as soon as it is finalized.
With an eye towards spring, Talent Show Registration is now open! Please see the online registration here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScBOkXL4utvMoY5ue-EQwAXoXlN-0kn5iaDCEKLX9T1V66XBw/viewform
Finally, our February meeting will be held on Tuesday, February 11th at 7 PM in the Duval Library. Childcare will be provided by the National Honor Society. It's hard to believe but there are only a handful of meetings left this year and we are starting to look for new parents to fill upcoming vacancies. Please join us and learn a little bit more about what we do if you can.
Thank you and have a great week,
