Academy Avenue Elementary School

Dear Academy Families and Friends,

The year is off to a great start. This past week, we wrapped up the Fall assessment window and are setting the stage for a great October. The Academy Ave Parent Council met last Thursday and discussed some of the plans, projects, and assemblies coming our way as the year unfolds. We had a great turnout! I strongly encourage families to join the Parent Council and get involved, after all, it's all for the kids!

In addition, we are looking for an additional parent representative for our School Council, which is a group of parents and educators that work closely with the principal to set goals, look at progress, and help us identify areas of growth. The group meets four times per year. Please email me at patrick.higgins@weymouth.ps.org if interested.

Over the next two weeks, students in Grades 3-5 will be participating in the Panorama survey, which looks at topics like school climate and student belonging. Click here for additional information about the survey.

Here are a few things to think/know about happening on campus and around town:

• Great job to all the cars using the top lot for arrival and dismissal. This past week with the rain, we saw an increase in use with plenty of room to spare. We hope to see more families use it as the colder weather comes.
• Also a reminder in the morning, we have a lot of students that walk to school. Please drive slowly and remember there are parking restrictions in neighborhood areas. Candia St., Sutton St. and Gilbert Road all have clearly posted parking signs.

Attendance plays a big role in a student's learning & achievement in school. Being here every day is important. Check out our interactive daily attendance board-looks like we have a tie for the top spot! Students ask about every day as they are on their way to the cafe!

The first Parent Council meeting will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 6:30PM in the Cafeteria. Our next meeting will be on October 16, 2025 at 6:30 in the Cafeteria.
