Poinsettia Fundraiser Nov 2 - Nov 9
Hello Tetons Parents!
Today I introduced the Poinsettia fundraiser with the sixth graders. For details, expectations, and deadlines please refer to the Tetons Smore Newsletter here. I also gave the students a handout with all the details as well as a copy of a selling form for them to use today. If you need extra copies, you can find them on the Tetons Smore Newsletter, or your child may ask me and I have extra printed copies. Lastly, I tried to give clear direction that any fundraising must be done in coordination and communication with you, their parents.
A few quick notes on fundraising:
- The students should be doing the fundraising, not parents, siblings or anyone else.
- Please use safe practices when selling including not selling to strangers.
- Students may only fundraise as much the cost of the trip ($650). Any profits earned above the $650, will go into the general Tetons fund, not to the student.
- If a student raises more than their current due balance, any account balancing will not occur until after the final donation is due.
Deadlines to make note of (see Upcoming Tasks above):
Best,
Natalie Newman
Poinsettia Details
Cost Details
- We are getting poinsettias at-cost from Rockin-E @ $6.75 per poinsettia.
- You (students) will be selling poinsettias for $14 each.
- Meaning, there will be a profit of $7.25 per poinsettia sold.
- $14 per poinsettia must be turned into the front office, and the front office will put the profit into your child’s specific Teton’s account and then deliver the at-cost amount to Rockin-E.
Process
- Mrs. Newman will review the fundraiser on Monday, November 2nd with the students in class.
- Go out and sell the poinsettias until Monday, November 9th.
- On Tuesday, November 10th, bring the total money (# of poinsettia’s sold x $14) to the front office in an envelope.
- On the envelope, write STUDENTS NAME, TOTAL POINSETTIAS ORDERED, and TOTAL MONEY.
- Cash or check to “WPA” only.
- If a customer decides to donate more than the cost of the poinsettia (e.g. they give you $20 for one poinsettia), please make that a separate donation to the student’s Teton account and not added in with poinsettia money.
- Mrs. Newman will total up the # of poinsettias and money for all of sixth grade, and she will then go to Rockin-E and give them our total.
- Within the next two weeks (latest probably Thursday before Thanksgiving Break), Rockin-E will get us, WPA, the certificates.
- The next school day after we receive the certificates, we will give the students their certificates (based off the number given to us on the envelope and matching the total money).
- The students then deliver their certificates ASAP to those that ordered certificates.
Other Details
- Make sure that when you are selling, you are upfront about the following:
- Size they are the normal 6.5” sized Poinsettias.
- They are receiving a certificate, not the poinsettia from you.
- They go and choose their own Poinsettia with the certificate.
- Money is due upfront when ordering the poinsettia.
- The student must keep the order form sheet, so they know who they sold the poinsettias to and how many each.
- May only fundraise as much the cost of the trip ($650). Any profits earned above the $650, will go into the general Tetons fund, not to the student.
10/5 Email: FOLLOW-UP: Student & Parent Informational Meeting 9/29
Hello Tetons Parents!
THANK YOU! Sincerely, I am so grateful for your time last Tuesday in attending the Tetons Informational Meeting. I shared a lot of information in a short time, so I wanted to send a follow up. If you can’t tell already, there’s a lot to this trip, but it is an incredible trip that is worth all the time!
Smore Newsletter – Communication & Information
As I mentioned in our informational meeting, I have created a smore newsletter (similar to classroom teachers) for all things Tetons. All new information and reminders will still be sent through email and Wednesday Note. The Tetons smore newsletter is meant to be a resource to go to in case you can’t find that one email or a handout or a copy of the packing list.
Here is the link for the Teton smore newsletter (same as the QR code magnet in your green folder): https://app.smore.com/n/yxw23
On this smore newsletter link, you can find copies of all the handouts from the informational meeting. If you need an extra paper copy, just have your student come find me during the school day and I’m happy to get you one.
Tetons Agreement Form, Donation, & Online Registration
A reminder that the Tetons Science School Field Trip Agreement & Voluntary Donation Request from is due THURSDAY, October 8th. Please turn into me or the front office (I have a mailbox in the front office where they can collect it).
An additional reminder that the first donation is due THURSDAY, October 8th as well. The front office can accept cash or checks (made out to “Wasatch Peak Academy”). We do not accept credit cards.
Here is an easy click link to the Teton Science School Online Registration page DUE October 20th.

Issues? Please utilize the step-by-step directions in the green folder. A copy of the directions is also on the smore newsletter.
Fundraising
A recommendation on fundraising—if you are planning on participating in the poinsettia fundraiser, I would recommend doing the two-payment option of $350 Thursday and $300 on November 17th. The second payment occurs AFTER the fundraiser money is turned in and then you will only need to pay the remaining balance after the fundraiser money is accounted for. If you believe you will raise over $300 dollars in fundraising (it has happened before!), then please reach out to be before making the first payment and let’s chat. If you make a payment and then fundraise over the payment amount (for example, you pay $350 right now with a balance of $300 and then fundraise $600) then we would balance and reconcile that, but that does come at a cost to the school — each check that we write costs the school. I’d prefer to minimize costs through increased communication. Lastly, your student may only fundraise as much as the cost of the trip ($650). Any profits earned above the $650, will go into the general Tetons fund, not to the student. More information on the Poinsettia fundraiser coming soon!
If your child is NOT attending the Tetons Science School Field Trip in May, I must have the Not Attending form filled out – please let me know and I will send a copy of the form home with your child.

REGISTRATION DUE TUESDAY, OCTOBER 20, 2026
A few notes:
- Please ensure that you complete the entire process through step 10, as missing that final step is the most common error.
- I, Ms. Newman, can’t answer any questions about the registration process. I can only confirm if its completed and I see the student’s name on my end.
Interested in Chaperoning?
Meeting: Friday, January 8, 2027 @ 8:10 am WPA
Parents interested in chaperoning the Teton field trip are required to attend the Interested Chaperones meeting on January 8, 2027 8:10am at WPA. At this meeting we will be reviewing expectations of chaperones on the trip as well as form/payment deadlines. Please note that the parent interested in attending the trip must be the one at the meeting, not the spouse.
Medications
Nothing can be administered to your child without prior written consent (e.g. over-the-counter medications, cough drops, melatonin nightly gummies, inhalers, epi-pens, as needed inhalers /epi-pens, cough drops… anything ingested or put on skin. Does not include body lotion) and your child may not self-administer any medications on this trip (excluding inhalers and epi-pens with applicable paperwork filled out).
Teton Science School has medications on hand and the Tetons online registration form (September) and the WPA Medical form (March) you filled out identifies which medications they may administer to your child per what you indicated on the forms. Those medications included:
- Tylenol: Acetaminophen
- Ibuprofen: Proprinal
- Benadryl: Diphenhydramine
- Aspirin**
- Claritin: Loratadine
- Delsym (cough): Dextromethorphan
- Maalox: aluminum hydroxide**
**Aspirin and Maalox will not be administered to students under 12 years of age.
More information on medications and forms will come in March 2027.
