The Weekly Words
10/18/26
At Noble Elementary, we believe that every student has the right to learn and grow in a safe and respectful environment. We also believe that every student has the power to make positive choices, learn from mistakes, and become stronger leaders in our school community. Noble Elementary empowers all students for college and career readiness through AVID’s schoolwide focus on WICOR, student success skills, and a growth mindset.
Thank you to everyone who made this year’s Fall Fest such a success! Despite the rain, our amazing students and families braved the weather and brought so much energy, fun, and spirit! We want to extend a thank you to our staff members who stayed late to support the event and ensure everyone had a great time. A very special shoutout goes to Ms. Threatt for her incredible leadership and effort in organizing every detail to make the fest possible. We are also grateful to the PTA for their support, and to AVI for providing the wonderful dinner that kept everyone fed throughout the evening.
Reset - Fresh Starts
Team,
As we close out Quarter 1 and step directly into Parent-Teacher Conferences this week, this is a natural moment to reflect on our progress, reset our intentionality, and set the standard for the remainder of the year. Conferences give us a powerful platform to bridge the gap between school and home. As you share data and growth areas with families, remember the core mindset driving our school culture: We cannot control every student's choice, but we have full ownership over how we respond.
Every single morning is a brand-new day for our students. As we navigate the demands of Week 10, ask yourself:
Can we extend genuine empathy while holding non-negotiable standards of accountability?
Do our tone, body language, and immediate actions communicate that we care, even in the middle of a behavioral redirection?
Our students will succeed having firm boundaries, calm and predictable adult responses, and the genuine opportunity to reset without ever being defined by yesterday’s choices. Moving into Quarter 2, continue to tighten your classroom routines, address off-task behaviors proactively and consistently, and approach every single student touchpoint through this lens: clear is kind, accountability is necessary, and relationships matter.
Mr. Walker, M.Ed.

Unity Day - Wear Orange
On October 21, our school will be joining schools across the nation to celebrate Unity Day!
Unity Day is the signature event of National Bullying Prevention Month. The message is simple, powerful, and clear: wear and share ORANGE to show unity, kindness, acceptance, and inclusion. When we wear orange, we send a visible message that no student at Noble or staff member stands alone and that our school is a safe, welcoming community for everyone.
October Noble All-Star Assemblies
Our October Noble All-Star Assemblies are Thursday, October 29! Please make sure your All-Stars are selected 4 days in Advance and families are notified to attend. Please update slides by 10/28! I am printing certificates this year!
After inventorying t-shirts, we have enough for all All-Stars this year. I will distribute September All-Star shirts this week!
Trunk or Treat Schedule
Candy Collection Drive Info
On Friday, October 30, we will host our annual Trunk or Treat celebration out on the Noble blacktop beginning at 1:45 p.m. (volunteer vehicles will arrive at 1:00 p.m. for setup). To make this a memorable, community-centered event for our Tigers, we need all hands on deck to spread the word and get our families involved!
How You Can Support:
Recruit Family Volunteers: Encourage your classroom families and community contacts to participate by decorating a vehicle trunk and handing out treats! Interested volunteers should email me directly at c_walker@chuh.org.
Promote the Candy Drive Challenge: Starting this week, launch the Candy Drive Challenge in your homeroom! Share Mr. Walker's tracker with your students' donations, the classroom that collects the most candy by weight (in pounds) by the deadline of 10/29 will win a PRIZE!
Enforce Safety Guidelines: Please remind families that Noble is a strictly NUT-FREE facility. All donated treats must be peanut- and tree-nut-free to ensure a safe, inclusive environment for all students.
Thank you for building excitement, reinforcing expectations, and helping us create an incredible fall experience for our students!
Arrival/Dismissal Expectations
With extra doors to monitor and fewer staff members this year, our team is spread thin. Every absence and delay severely impacts building safety, making your punctuality at assigned duty posts essential.
Arrival Window (8:30 – 8:45 AM): Duty has been reduced to just 15 minutes before instruction to ease the morning load. Please be at your post promptly at 8:30 AM.
Absences & Coverage: If running late or absent, notify leadership immediately and try to arrange backfill coverage with a teammate.
Dismissal Timeline: Building transitions begin at 3:15 PM for primary and 3:15–3:20 PM for upper elementary to pack up. No classes or students may exit the building prior to 3:25 PM.

Noble Academics
Communication Plan - Persons with Disabilities
The District has adopted a plan for communications with persons with disabilities, which is available at the following link: Communication Plan. The plan establishes procedures to ensure that the District's communications with persons with disabilities, including applicants, participants, members of the public, and companions with disabilities, are as effective as its communications with others.
10/23: GLTM
Grade-Level Team Meetings are on Friday, October 23. Detailed schedules, location, and room assignments will be sent out by the Learning Team tomorrow. To help you plan, please expect high-leverage sessions focused on Science instruction, Wonders curriculum implementation, and EL differentiated instruction. Thank you in advance for your active engagement as we continue refining our instructional practices to support all students.
Student Concern Form
Use this form to communicate a student concern and request initial support or problem-solving. The Student Concern Form is the entry point to the MTSS/RFA process. Providing a concern does not automatically result in a formal RFA or change in intervention.
AVID Strategy of the Month
Our AVID Strategy of the Month focuses on structured Close Reading, guiding students through a multi-pass process to deepen comprehension and critical thinking. Students begin with a initial read for the "big picture," follow with a second read using targeted text markings to isolate key details and confusion points, and conclude with a focused pass to analyze visuals and margin notes to connect ideas to the author's main idea.
District Learning Walks
The Academic Services Team is looking forward to beginning District Learning Walks in all CH-UH schools. First semester Learning Walks begin the week of December 7 for Noble.
You can access the District Learning Walk form here for your review. After a team member completes a Learning Walk, the teacher, and co-teacher if applicable, will receive feedback from the Learning Walk via email. As a reminder, District Learning Walks are not Evaluative and the purpose of the Learning Walk is to provide BLTs and the district team with feedback on implementation of the district and building One Plans. District Learning Walks also help the Academic Services team align our district instructional practices to High Quality Instructional Materials.
