From the HHS Admin Team From the HHS Admin Team

As we prepare for the PreACT this Tuesday, October 20th, we wanted to remind you of this important information for all grade levels.

FRESHMEN & SOPHOMORES:

  • Students will attend class as normal. There will be no Freshmen Advisory.

JUNIORS:

  • Students will be taking the PreACT during periods 1-5. They will go to lunch during 6th period and attend junior-class activities during 7th period in the PAC and 8th period in the Field House.
  • Students should check their email for their testing room location.

SENIORS:

  • Students will not be in attendance on Tuesday. They are encouraged to use this day for a college visit or job shadow experience.

We recognize that testing days can bring a range of feelings for students, from confidence and excitement to stress or uncertainty. The PreACT is an opportunity for our juniors to practice the testing experience ahead of the ACT this spring, become familiar with the format, and build confidence for the next step. We encourage all students to approach the day with a positive mindset and do their best.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we work together to ensure our students feel prepared, supported, and ready to succeed.

Midsummer in the Courtyard
zoom_out_map Show in original size

This weekend, HHS Theatre made history with its fall production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream! For the first time ever, a theatre performance took place in our courtyard, bringing the magic of Shakespeare to life in a unique outdoor setting. Embracing the spirit of Shakespeare in the Park, our talented student actors performed without microphones, creating an intimate, enchanting atmosphere for the audience. Congratulations to our students and theatre staff on a memorable production that brought a little Shakespearean magic to HHS!

Student 4-Year Plans

During last week’s Raider Way lesson, students completed a SchooLinks interest inventory to explore career options and guide course elective choices. This week during the Raider Way lesson, they created their four-year plan, a roadmap of high school courses to help students reach their academic and future goals. Please remind your student that this is simply a plan that can be adjusted throughout their time at HHS. Course selection will take place in January.

Benefits of creating a four-year plan:

  • Helps students intentionally map out each year of study.

  • Tracks graduation requirements and long-term goals.

  • Ensures course prerequisites are accounted for.

  • Reduces last-minute decision-making stress.

  • Encourages reflection on strengths, interests, and career paths.

Students can access and adjust their plan in SchooLinks (under Plan > Course Planner) through November 6th. As a reminder, SchooLinks can be accessed using the H158 bookmarks.

Next steps:

  • Students will review their 4-year plan in SchooLinks with you.

  • Remind your student to meet with their counselor before November 6th to review their plan and discuss any questions/concerns.

    • Students can schedule a counselor appointment by scanning the QR code on the pod door poster or with the pod administrative assistant.

Key details to keep in mind:

  • If something looks incorrect in their plan, students can discuss this with their counselor when they meet.

  • Some courses are auto-populated based on test results and the Accelerated Placement Act.

    • As the parent/guardian, you will have the ability to change the level of their courses by completing the 27-28 Level Change Form.

If you have any questions, please contact your student's school counselor.

Digital Learning Update: Schoology & Google Classroom Transition

As our district prepares to transition from Schoology to Google Classroom next school year, teachers have the option to use either platform during this bridge year. While all students have access to Schoology, some teachers are already utilizing Google Classroom as their primary learning hub. Students know which platform to use for each class.

If a teacher is using Google Classroom, parents and guardians will soon receive an email invitation to connect to Google Classroom. Accepting this invitation is optional, but it allows you to receive weekly email summaries of assignments, announcements, and missing work for classes currently using the platform.

If a teacher is not using Google Classroom, you will receive no notifications.

Thank you for your support as we take this step forward!

HHS Principal’s Student Leadership Council (PSLC)

Our Principal’s Student Leadership Council (PSLC) strives to build a strong relationship between students and administration. Composed of a diverse group of students in grades 9–12, the PSLC serves as the voice of the student body to the administrative team, with members acting as student ambassadors for the school.

The Council meets with school administrators throughout the year to provide input on school issues. Members commit to serving for one year and are expected to attend all scheduled meetings. Meetings will be held throughout the school year on Late Start Wednesdays at 7:15 am in the Black Box Theatre.

The Council seeks a diverse group of students across 9th–12th grade, including students involved in various activities and those who are not. All interested students are encouraged to apply.

In addition to the full PSLC team, a smaller core team of representatives will meet more regularly with administration. This team will help lead large group discussions, facilitate activities, and direct special projects. Core team members will be selected directly from the application pool.

The application deadline is Monday, October 19th. Students who are selected will be notified via email by October 23rd, and the first meeting will be Wednesday, October 28th at 7:15 am in the Black Box Theatre.

CLICK HERE TO APPLY. Applications will also be emailed directly to student.
