SPARKing through the year!

October was full of learning, laughter, and hands-on experiences at Summit Road STEM! Our Culinary Lab is officially underway, and students are already diving into cooking and sustainability. Check out the photos below to see our SPARKS in action. We celebrated positive behavior with a schoolwide dance party PBIS incentive, and several grade levels enjoyed exciting fall field trips: Kindergarten visited the Pumpkin Farm, our Special Education classrooms explored the Apple Orchard, and 3rd grade toured the Reynoldsburg Historical Society. Thank you to all families for your ongoing support, especially during Parent/Teacher Conferences. As we move into November, we’re looking forward to more fun and learning with our annual Balloons Over Broadway event on November 25th and the Book Fair in the library from December 1st through 5th.

Vote for our 1st graders adopted cow!

National Farmer's Day was October 12th and our first graders "adopted a cow" that was born on the Double Platinum Farm in Van Wert, Ohio and her name is Ariel. Ariel is now in a contest with 83 calves in this year’s Adopt a Cow program. One calf will be named America’s Favorite Calf. From November 3rd-5th, please join the fun and vote for our calf. This is a fun way for the students to participate in voting alongside our nation's election. The winning calf will receive a care package from Discovery Dairy.

Our Culinary Lab

At Summit Road STEM Elementary, our Culinary Lab has become a hands-on space where learning comes to life. Each grade level visits the lab at least twice during the year, connecting classroom learning with real-world experiences. Students collaborate with our English Language Learner (ELL) department to prepare dishes that tie directly to their current studies or global themes, blending literacy, science, and culture through food. The lab also reinforces our commitment to sustainability, using ingredients sourced from our school garden and share cart whenever possible. It’s more than cooking—it’s teamwork, creativity, and STEM in action.

Transportation Showcase Transportation Showcase

We urgently need more vehicles to make this event possible!

Without enough participation, we may have to cancel this wonderful learning experience for our students — and we don’t want that to happen.

If you have a vehicle (of any kind!) and are willing to share your time and knowledge, please sign up by Friday, November 7, 2025.

We are using TalkingPoints as our main communication method. Parent/Guardians will be automatically enrolled with your phone number and e-mail addresses on file in the office.

It is very important that your phone number is updated so you can stay up to date with information from the building! To begin, TalkingPoints will automatically allow us to communicate with text messages to your phone. If you wish, you can download the TalkingPoints Parent app to your phone. This allows you to do more advanced features such as react to messages, RSVP to events, and more. Downloading an app is optional.

Change of addresses are required by Ohio Law, and should be communicated with our welcome center. Maggie in the Summit front office can help with this process.

Teachers send home a weekly newsletter with photos, upcoming events, and current happenings. Please be sure you are checking your child's newsletter! If you are not receiving Talking Point messages, please call the office.
