Eagle Ridge- eThursday Folder

Message From the Principal
It’s a great day to be an Eagle!
I want to share something a little personal—last week, I found myself feeling a bit cynical, caught up in the day-to-day challenges that can sometimes make the week feel heavy. This week, I decided to focus on something different: looking for all the positive, uplifting, and inspiring moments happening at Eagle Ridge. And I did not have to look far.
Everywhere I turned, I saw kindness in action. I noticed students comforting classmates who were feeling a little homesick, offering smiles, words of encouragement, or simply sitting with them so they felt included. I watched our student leaders tutoring peers in the hall who needed extra support, sharing their time, knowledge, and patience to help others succeed. Even in the cafeteria, students stepped up to help clean and organize, ensuring the space was ready and welcoming for the next grade level.
These moments of kindness are more than helpful actions—they create a ripple effect that strengthens our entire school community. When students support one another, they practice empathy, leadership, and responsibility. They show that small acts of care can have a big impact.
What touched me most is how consistently these acts happen. Our Eagles choose every day to lift one another up, to notice when someone needs help, and to step in without being asked. That spirit of generosity, thoughtfulness, and teamwork is at the heart of who we are at Eagle Ridge.
Thank you to all of our families for nurturing these qualities at home and helping your children understand the importance of kindness. Together, we are building a school where every student feels valued, supported, and empowered to make a positive difference.
Kindness is contagious, and thanks to our Eagles, it spreads throughout classrooms, hallways, and beyond. After focusing on the positive this week, I can honestly say I feel inspired, energized, and incredibly proud of our school community.

We are encouraging families to come by and enjoy this art experience!
From the Counselor's Corner
We're hopeful everyone's school year is off to a positive start as we transition to Colorado's beautiful fall. This year, the counseling department at Eagle Ridge is partnering with Douglas County Public Schools district wide initiative of integrating Social Emotional lessons in the classroom through the program, Wayfinder. Until fall break, all K-12 students are learning the importance of kindness and inclusivity through Douglas County's anti-bullying campaign.
One way you can partner with Douglas County's initiative is to speak with your student about the definition of bullying and how we can "See it-Say It- Stop It".
The definition of bullying is repeated intentional meanness. We all make mistakes or can bring each other down sometimes. It's important to say sorry and repair the relationship. Bullying is when the other person doesn't stop and isn't sorry. When this happens, we need student's help to "See it- Say it- Stop it." It's important if someone sees bullying or is being bullied, they speak with a trusted adult so we can help stop it and ensure that every student is included and valued.
Lastly, the counseling department will be integrating small group work into our departmental practice. If you believe your child could benefit from practicing or developing new social-emotional skills within the context of their peers, please reach out to Mrs. Lieber or Ms. Miller to see what groups are available.
We look forward to learning and growing with your student this year!
