Inclusive Practices in the NLRSD

Dr. LeAnn Stoll, the Executive Director of Special Services, presented the Board of Education with an overview and update of ways in which students enrolled in special education are learning alongside their peers who are not enrolled in special education. These inclusive practices are being implemented at Boone Park Elementary, Glenview Elementary, and North Little Rock High. The goal is to have full inclusion by the 2025-2026 school year.

Visitors, Volunteers, and Mentors in the NLRSD

Ms. Crystal Barker, the Parent and Family Engagement Coordinator for the NLRSD, shared information on how parents and community members can visit our campuses and to be a part of our schools. We are always looking for mentors to come and help us with our students to encourage them to make good choices.

Summer Learning Plans Revealed

The North Little Rock School District will hold summer school this summer. Classes will take place June 12 through July 6, Monday through Thursday. This has been planned to assist students who have been identified as needing additional help and for high school students who need to gain credits.

Special education students enrolled in the Extended Summer Year program will be on the high school campus during the same time frame as summer school.

Restructured ALE, Virtual Academy, and Credit Recovery Program Approved

The Board of Education voted to approve the restructuring of the reimagined Alternative Learning Environment (ALE), Virtual Academy, and Credit Recovery Program that will go into effect next school year.

Board Approves Certified Salary Schedule

The North Little Rock Board of Education approved the certified salary schedule for the 2023-2024 school year. The new schedule meets the requirements of the Arkansas LEARNS legislation that Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders recently signed.

This is a proposed salary and could change so the district can generate contracts and begin the new school year without interruption to general and daily operations. The administration will work with the Licensed Personnel Policies Committee to draft a future salary schedule after all state funding is known and more information is available.
