The conference brings together individuals with disabilities, families, educators, and community partners to learn, connect, and share experiences. Sessions are led by a mix of professionals and people with lived experience, covering topics like education, employment, self-advocacy, and community inclusion. The goal is to create a welcoming space where all perspectives are valued and to support people with disabilities in building meaningful, self-directed lives.

Welcome back to Campus Kudos, where we will be celebrating ways that a schoolโ€™s Student Services team has been working to promote inclusion, belonging for students, and working as a team to support each other. Stay tuned each week to see which school is highlighted and what kinds of amazing work they are doing to support students.

This week we are celebrating La Pine Middle and La Pine High!

LA PINE MIDDLE SCHOOL

Brian Barringer (Principal) shares that โ€œThe team is great at communicating issues. The staff always brings current issues to the admin and helps brainstorm ideas to help support students that need extra help to feel included.

The LPMS team takes a collaborative approach to doing what's best for students. The team goes above and beyond what is expected. The team is very close-knit and cares about each other as people, not just employees. Our team has recently been working on preparing our students for the Unified track meet. Students have been getting some extra training and preparation for this. LPMS has not participated in this event since I have been here!โ€ Go La Pine Middle!!

LA PINE HIGH SCHOOL

Scott Olszewski (Principal) says โ€œThe LPHS special ed team has a deep understanding of our students' backgrounds, history, strengths, and challenges. They support our students through grace, care, and passionate advocacy!

Our team co-facilitates an intervention "roundup" at the start of each trimester where they discuss each individual students' needs and plan with every general education teacher the student has for classes. Our life skills and transition team is thoroughly embedded in our community through service, a unified sports team, and as the managers of our ever popular coffee cart and deli, both of which serve all schools in La Pine.โ€ Go LPHS!
