December News
K-8 Connect, 2024
December and January Events:
GREAT NEWS!!! K-8 Connect received a generous donation from a member of our Springdale community. As a result, K-8 Connect students will be receiving winter hats, gloves, and mittens. Another piece of great news is that each of our students have been gifted two Christmas presents through the Champions for Kids Reading program (a non profit organization dedicated to promoting increased student reading and engaged learning behavior).
The mittens, gloves, hats, and other presents are being wrapped on 12-11-24. The presents will be delivered to our CLC Christmas party scheduled for Dec. 19. Students will open their presents then. Please see more details about the CLC Christmas Party below.
- Our 12 Days of Christmas festive dress up event is still going on. Neon green flyers were sent home earlier this month with details.
- Dec. 12th: Field Trip to "Once Upon a Time Book Store". Field trip permission slips will be sent home with students to be signed and returned by parents/guardians. More details about the event are in the flyer below.
- Dec. 13th: PBIS Shopping - Students will shop at our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) store using the points they've earn for positive behavior while at school. Please be expecting them to likely be bringing home prizes they received at school.
- Dec. 19: CLC Christmas Party, 10:00-11:00 AM, 1285 Millsap Rd., Fayetteville, AR 72703. Parents/Guardians are encouraged to attend this event if possible. Students will open their presents at the party, and the presents will go home with the parents/guardians directly following the party for those who can attend. For parents/guardians who are unable to attend the party, students will bring their presents back from CLC to K-8 Connect, and we will coordinate with families on how best to get the students' presents home. Field trip permission slips will be sent home with students to be signed and returned by parents/guardians. More details about the event are in the flyer below.

Mrs. Joleen's School Counseling Corner
Seasons Greetings, Caregivers! In December, students have begun learning Concept 2 of Zones of Regulation ("Introducing the Zones of Regulation"). We are learning how to categorize our feelings we have on the INSIDE into the four zones of regulation to make it easier to understand, talk about, and regulate them. The Zones Bridge sheet went home with your student this month explaining more about how to incorporate Concept 2 at home.
Starting the week of Dec. 9th, Mrs. Joleen is presenting Empower Me! to students about personal body safety. After the lesson, students will be able to identify 5 trusted adults they can talk to who can help keep them safe. I encourage you to ask your student about who their 5 trusted adults are.
Thank you and Happy Holidays!
