A Message from your Principal
Dear Garfield Families,
As we begin planning for the upcoming school year, we invite families to complete our Consideration for Placement Form, which will be open from May 1 through May 10, 2026. The link to the GOOGLE FORM is here. This form provides an opportunity for you to share important information about your child’s academic, developmental, and behavioral needs so we can thoughtfully create balanced and supportive classroom placements.
Please note that this is not a teacher request form. In order to ensure fairness and equity for all students, any submissions that include specific teacher names will not be reviewed.
We value your input and appreciate your partnership as we work to place every student in the best possible learning environment for success.
With appreciation,
Methinee Bozeman
We LOVE Our Teachers!
This week is Teacher Appreciation day and our Cubs appreciate their teachers! Garfield teachers work countless hours, weekends, evenings, summers, and every school break prepping and preparing lessons and activities that engage our students in learning. They genuinely care not only about your student's education but your student's developing character and wellbeing. If you see your student's teacher this week, be sure to say thank you!
It's Time for State Testing!
The state testing window this year is May 4-29. All students grades 3-6 in elementary across California will participate in these tests and it is our students opportunity to show how much they have learned. We're very excited about the progress our Cubs have made in the 24-25 school year!
What to expect: All students will take the English language arts (ELA) and math tests online. Additionally, 5th grade will take a science test. Your child's teacher will notify students and parents of their specific test schedule.
How can you help? We value the partnership with our parent community throughout the school year and hope you can reinforce the following concepts for test preparation at home.
- Come rested, relaxed, and ready
- Eat a good breakfast
- Take your time and stay focused
- Think positive thoughts!
Parents: Please do not schedule any appointments on a test day. If your child comes in late to a testing session, they will not be able to join their class and will have to take the test on a make up day. Please check the schedule your teacher provides for your specific dates.
Deliveries at Scool
Lunch
Students should know if they are eating hot or cold lunch before leaving home each morning. If a student accidentally leaves their lunch at home, they may eat hot lunch instead and should let their teacher know during lunch count. Students will not be permitted to call home for lunch as this is disruptive. If a parent drops off a forgotten lunch to school, there will be a table outside the office for them to place it on. Parents should email the teacher to alert them to the drop off. The lunches will not be monitored and will not be delivered to students. No Door Dash, Grubhub, or Uber Eats will be accepted.
Forgotten Homework / Sports Uniforms
Forgotten homework, books, or sports uniforms may be dropped off on the table in front of the office. All items should be labeled with your student’s name. Please email the student’s teacher to alert them to the drop off. Items will not be monitored and will not be delivered to students.
Cash / Cell Phones
Please be sure to give your students their Snack Shack money before they leave for school on Fridays. We are unable to accept any valuables to hold in the office for your students including cash or cell phones. These items may not be left on the table outside of the office.
Deliveries
No flowers, balloons, or special deliveries will be accepted by the office. No phone orders or food delivery orders such as Door Dash, Grubhub, or Uber Eats will be accepted. Students will not be summoned, and deliveries will not be made to classrooms. Students may not meet food delivery drivers during the school day
