Fremont Elementary School
SEPTEMBER 5, 2025
A Message From Mrs. Carmody
Dear Fremont Families,
Today was certainly a blustery day on campus. Our students were captivated by the sheer force of the wind, observing firsthand how it caught their clothing and challenged their balance. It was a wonderful "teachable moment" where spontaneous science lessons abounded, as children experimented with resistance and motion during their brief time outdoors.
As we enter the final full week of instruction before Spring Break, our focus remains steadfast on learning. While the excitement for the upcoming break is certainly growing, next week is a vital period for closing out current units of study and ensuring students are well-positioned for the final months of the year. I appreciate your partnership in helping our students maintain their routines and concentration throughout these next five days so we can conclude this stretch of the academic calendar on a high note.
Thank you for your partnership!
Sincerely,
Beth Carmody
Principal
Miss Kasamis' classroom was buzzing with excitement as the students hosted their "Community Helpers" presentations. From brave firefighters to caring doctors, our students shared not only what they’ve learned about our neighborhood heroes but also their own big dreams for the future. We are so proud of the confidence and hard work they showed while presenting to their peers and families. A huge thank you to the parents who joined us to cheer them on!

Spring into Success
As spring approaches, students are deep into projects, testing prep, and new concepts. Consistent attendance helps keep them on track. Let’s finish the third quarter strong by making attendance a family focus—while still respecting our health guidelines for when a child needs rest and recovery.
Last Day to Participate in the 5Essentials Survey!
Fremont School District 79 greatly values your feedback as it relates to your student’s educational experience. Once again, the State of Illinois has partnered with 5Essentials to create a forum by which you can provide your input.
If you have not already done so, we would greatly appreciate it if you would take the brief survey by visiting:
http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/
Your responses are vital for continuous improvement and long-range planning for your child's school. Parents are welcome to answer the survey for each of their children’s schools.
The deadline to complete the survey is today, Friday, March 13.
“Permission to Feel” Recap
Thank you to those who were able to join us for our Parent Book Club presentation this week on “Permission to Feel” by Marc Brackett, which covers the RULER system being incorporated in our Fremont schools. If you missed the presentation, you can watch it below.
Quest Lunch Updates
In an effort to better help students to thrive and grow while at school, Quest and Fremont have shifted the choices of snacks and beverages available to them to purchase in the cafeterias at lunch time. With the focus on providing a balanced source of energy and nutrition, our chips and cracker choices are now focusing on portions that are whole-grain and reduced-fat. We have also shifted the beverage selection to promote low-sugar juice and drinks to help fuel students’ learning, while still providing them with the same variety of options they look for during lunch. Please contact Food Service Director Anthony Smith with any questions.
