Dear Hardy Families,
Happy Tuesday, Hardy. I hope you had a restful three-day weekend. I want to thank you for prioritizing attendance. Our academic gains last year were directly tied to reducing chronic absenteeism by 7%.
Hardy currently has the highest percent present rate in the Henry Cluster, and we are the fifth elementary school in San Diego Unified for attendance. This is a significant accomplishment, and it would not be possible without the strong partnership of our families. Thank you for prioritizing your child’s learning and scheduling activities as much as possible outside the school day; it truly makes a difference.
Lastly, a heartfelt thank you for your enthusiasm and support during our jog-a-thon and fundraiser. Our students had an incredible time, and thanks to your generosity, we surpassed our goal and raised funds that will directly benefit Hardy classrooms and programs.
Quick note: New after-school enrichment classes are coming soon, see the flyer below for details. If you have not joined the PTA yet, now is a great time, we are aiming for 130 members and your membership helps us get there.

🏃Jog-a-Thon: We did it, Hardy Owls!

We are so incredibly grateful to the entire Hardy community: students, families, staff, teachers, volunteers, and friends near and far who helped us raise more than $35,400 to support Hardy programs in and outside the classroom. Stay tuned for an exciting announcement of a new program!
Congratulations to our top classes: Braga, Wilson, and Reilly/Youngblood (tie!). And a special nod to all our students for running their hearts out – every single lap and every single pledge helped Hardy.

Choice Enrollment Window Opens TODAY through November 3
Will you help spread the word to prospective Hardy Owls—and any families interested in joining us—for the 2026–27 school year?
The 2026–27 Choice priority enrollment window opens Monday, Sept. 22, through Nov. 3, 2025. The Choice Program allows families to apply for schools beyond their neighborhood.

Families applying during the priority window have the best chance to secure one of their top three school choices. Multilingual support is also available through the Family Welcome and Enrollment Center at (619) 260-2410.
Current Hardy students on Choice, who will remain at Hardy, do not need to apply.
