Words of Windom February 26
Notes From The Office
Happy February!
February is a busy and exciting time at Windom as we continue to see our students grow both academically and socially. Classrooms remain filled with meaningful learning, collaboration, and a strong focus on building character and responsibility.
We recently completed our winter universal screening process, which provides valuable insight into each student’s academic progress. Next week, our instructional teams will review this data and create new Academic Intervention Services (AIS) groups. These groups are designed to offer targeted instruction and support to ensure all students are appropriately challenged and supported.
As we move through the winter months, we also continue to emphasize kindness, perseverance, and respect throughout our school community. Thank you for your ongoing partnership, communication, and support at home - it truly makes a difference.
We look forward to all that February has in store and appreciate your continued involvement in making Windom a wonderful place to learn.
January Recap
The Great Kindness Challenge
There is no doubt about it—KINDNESS MATTERS!!
Windom took part in the Great Kindness Challenge, along with the rest of Orchard Park Schools. Students were given kindness sheets and asked to perform extra acts of kindness during the last week of January. In recognition of our active participation in The Great Kindness Challenge, we have been recognized as a Kindness Certified School!
T-shirt Design Contest
Our very own Mr. Wert recently facilitated a Windom T-shirt design challenge for all of our 5th grade students. Students were invited to create a design inspired by the theme “One School, Many Stars,” a creative spin on our character education focus, SHINE. Once completed, students across all grade levels had the opportunity to vote for their favorite design.
Congratulations to Rilyn on her winning design! A huge thank you to our PTO, who will be bringing this design to life by purchasing a class T-shirt for every student in the building.
The OPMS Observer - Rising 6th Grade Information
Attached is a link to The OPMS Observer that was shared with 5th grade families earlier this week by Mrs. Graham (Middle School Principal). While we will be sad to see our 5th graders go, we are thankful for this resource from the Middle School to help keep us all informed!
