Week of May 11, 2025
From the Desk of Our Proud Principal
Good evening, Trojan Families!
This is a message from your proud principal, Mrs. Kinard, and the school leaders at Ferndale Middle School. We strongly encourage you to access the digital version of this announcement, available on our school website and social media. It contains additional important information that you and your students need to know.
We’re entering another important week here at Ferndale as we continue preparing our students for End-of-Grade (EOG) testing. Thank you for your continued support and encouragement during this critical time of the school year!
🧠 EOG Prep Academy Continues!
Each week leading up to EOGs, we are holding our EOG Prep Academy sessions to provide students with focused review, test-taking strategies, and extra academic support. These sessions are making a real impact—but only if students are here on time to participate.
⏰ Please help us by ensuring your child arrives at school on time each day so they don’t miss out on this valuable preparation time. Every minute counts!
🎓 Celebrating Growth and Looking Ahead
We are so proud of our students’ hard work and are excited to celebrate their academic growth in the coming weeks. From incentive events to our 8th Grade Promotion, there are many great things ahead. Be sure to stay connected through our website and school social media for updates and announcements.
💛 Staff Appreciation Continues
This past week we celebrated our amazing teachers, and we’ll continue to lift up the work of our educators and support staff throughout May. Thank you to all the families who have helped show our staff some love!
Let's keep the momentum going as we move closer to the finish line. Attendance, effort, and a positive mindset make all the difference.
Together, we’re building something special at Ferndale!
GCS Transportation for 2025-2026
If your child will be a new bus rider, attending a new school, or has had an address change for next school year, you should complete the 2025-2026 online Transportation Preference form by Friday, June 13th to guarantee transportation on the first day of school.
If your child rode the bus during the 2024-2025 school year as an eligible student and there has been no school change and/or address change, families do not have to apply for transportation for the 2025-2026 school year.

GCS Immigration Response
Every family should know that every child in Guilford County has the Constitutional right to attend school regardless of immigration status. The Guilford County Schools does not request or record information about a student’s immigration status. Federal and state laws protect student information from disclosure to others, including Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). GCS does not permit non-students, including ICE agents, access to GCS facilities unless they can produce a warrant signed by a federal judge. School administrators will not permit the disclosure of confidential student information without first consulting their attorney to make sure that the information has been properly subject to a federal judge’s warrant.
Families should consult community resources to learn their rights and additional information will be provided to help families access these resources.
