๐ Winter Is Coming to West Texas Ranches
As temperatures begin to drop, ranchers across West Texas are preparing their cattle for winter. Checking water troughs, making sure hay supplies are ready, and providing wind protection are important steps to keeping livestock healthy during cold weather. Preparation now can help prevent bigger problems later!
๐ Texas Agriculture Update
As fall harvest season continues, Texas farmers are wrapping up work in the fields and preparing for the next growing season. Weather conditions, soil moisture, and production costs remain important factors for agricultural producers across the Texas Panhandle and Rolling Plains. Managing resources and planning ahead are essential to keeping agricultural operations productive.
๐ FFA Leadership Season Begins
November marks the beginning of Leadership Development Event (LDE) competition season for FFA chapters across Texas! Students have been preparing for weeks to compete in events that develop public speaking, teamwork, decision-making, and leadership skills. From Creed Speaking and Radio Broadcasting to Chapter Conducting and Skills Demonstrations, these contests give students opportunities to build confidence and represent their chapters. Guthrie FFA students will compete at the District LDE contest on November 9, with qualifying teams advancing to the Area contest on November 20โ21.
๐ฆ Thankful for Agriculture
With Thanksgiving approaching, it is a great time to recognize the farmers and ranchers who work year-round to provide the products we depend on. From the beef on our tables to the cotton in our clothes, agriculture plays an important role in our everyday lives. This November, take a moment to thank a farmer or rancher for their hard work and dedication!
