Every Day Counts!
Regular attendance is one of the most important ways families can support their child’s success in school. Missing just 2 days each month adds up to about 18 days in a school year, which is more than three weeks of valuable learning time.
Attendance is especially important in the early grades, when students are building the foundational reading and math skills they will need throughout their education. When students miss instruction now, those gaps can make more advanced reading, writing, and math concepts harder to master in later grades.
Our school-wide attendance goal is 96%, and we need everyone’s help to reach it! Whenever your child is healthy and able to attend, please make being at school and arriving on time a priority.
Emergency Drills
Keeping our students and staff safe is always a top priority. Throughout the school year, we practice a variety of emergency drills, including fire, earthquake, lockdown, and secure campus drills. Practicing these procedures helps students and staff know what to do, where to go, and how to respond calmly and safely in the event of a real emergency.
On Monday, we will practice our first lockdown drill of the 2026–2027 school year. We encourage families to talk with their children ahead of time and remind them that drills are an important way we practice staying safe at school. During any emergency drill, the most important thing students can do is remain calm, listen carefully to the adult in charge, and follow directions right away.
Coffee Chat with the Principal - August 25th
Sun Bucks
UBA participation is extremely important, as the information collected directly impacts the District’s LCFF funding and the resources available to support our students and schools. It also helps families during the summer.
Please be advised that the District has transitioned the 2026-27 Universal Benefits Application (UBA) from ParentVUE to an updated application platform (and our formerly used application platform) due to technical issues.
Families who have received confirmation that their application has been approved and accepted do not need to reapply.
All other families will be encouraged to complete a new application using the updated link. https://sbusd.rocketscanapps.com/ or the Scan the QR Code
Thank you.
Gracias.

Military families are invited to connect with their School Liaison by signing up to receive a weekly email. A School Liaison’s primary function is to serve as a conduit between parents, educators, and the command so military-connected children experience a seamless transition during the transfer between schools. Once settled, a School Liaison provides military families with up-to-date education and Navy resources available in support of PreK-12 students. To opt in to receive emails from your School Liaison, Mindy Hayes, email nbcslo@us.navy.mil or call 619-991-2509.
