Message from the Superintendent Message from the Superintendent

I enjoy hearing the sounds from the different activities in our buildings during after-school hours. On any given night or weekend, it’s common to come across a mix of community groups, youth sports, district-sponsored athletics/activities, and recreational programs/organizations that are utilizing CSD spaces. In fact, it’s common to have several of these groups in our buildings at the same time.

As we transition into the winter season, we see an uptick in building use by groups. I want to be clear: we think the building use is a great thing! We recognize our responsibility in being a hub of activity and connection for our community.

Many of you will recall the community’s investment in CSD facilities in 2020. Thanks to that support, we are fortunate to have exceptional spaces for students and community members alike. Now that these facilities are no longer brand new, our focus shifts to maintaining and preserving them for years to come. I want to express my appreciation to our Buildings and Grounds Team for their outstanding work in keeping our spaces looking like new. I also want to thank the many groups who use our facilities responsibly and leave them in great shape. It is noticed and truly makes a difference.

As I reflected on this topic, I was reminded of one of our District’s Legacy Priority Areas: Facilities and Operations. Success in this area requires both long- and short-range planning. These plans allow us to be proactive and thoughtful in our decisions rather than reactive. Of course, as with any facility, just like owning a home, there will always be the occasional unexpected challenge. We are of the philosophy, though, that positive outcomes are the result of intentionality and good planning.

I look forward to hearing the sounds of activity filling our buildings over the coming months. We hope that our planning helps every group to find our spaces welcoming and well-suited to their needs. We hope this is a contribution to making our community a great place to learn and work.

Go Cards!

2025-2026 Inclement Weather/School Cancellations 2025-2026 Inclement Weather/School Cancellations

Soon winter and possible inclement weather will be here. For your safety and that of your children, this message is to inform you of how you will be notified of weather-related school closings. All parents who have updated information with the district on file should receive an email, text message, or phone call from the school informing them of a school closing. Your communication method that you receive will be based on what you selected as a preference for Infinite Campus. The most common types of weather-related school closings are: full-day school closing, 2-hour delay, or early dismissal. Early childhood and 4K typically follow the same closing schedule. In the event of a 2-hour delay, there usually is no school for early childhood or AM 4K, either. On days with a 2-hour delay, typically afternoon 4K students will have school. There could be an occasion where PM 4K is canceled in anticipation of a possible early release.

If you have recently changed your phone number or email address, please check with the office at your child's school to see if we have your most up to date contact information on file. Let's have a safe and warm winter together!

Columbus/Fall River Rotary traditionally has partnered in the hosting of high school exchange students. Typically, the two school districts alternate years of hosting a student. CHS is anticipating to be hosting an exchange student for the 2026-2027 school year. The local Rotarians are looking for potential host families. The information included above is general information from Rotary. If you would be interested in more specific information, feel free to reach out to Mr. Flood via email (jflood@columbus.k12.wi.us)
