Roncalli Elementary School

World Read Aloud Day (WRAD) will be celebrated on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, continuing its tradition on the first Wednesday of February to promote the power of reading aloud and sharing stories globally, with themes like "Celebrate Learning" highlighting its educational benefits. LitWorld encourages everyone, from children to adults, to grab a book and read to someone. There is a great article in this link on the importance of reading aloud for a student's language growth.

On Friday, February 13th, we will participate in "Janeway Day in Schools." On this day we encourage families that if they can, to make a small donation to the Janeway Children's Hospital Foundation. We encourage students to wear their PJ's to school on this day to show our support for the children at the janeway who often have to wear their PJ's daily.

Families can donate several ways;

• Send your donation to the school on this day via your child
• Text NLTA to 45678 from now until March 1 to donate $5.

• Or click HERE to donate directly to the Janeway online.

Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week takes place from February 9th to 13th. Here at Roncalli, we are incredibly fortunate to have a dedicated team of educators and support staff who demonstrate unwavering commitment to our students every day.

To honor their hard work, we are organizing several initiatives throughout the week to express our sincere gratitude. This is a special opportunity for our school community to go above and beyond in recognizing the vital role our staff plays in the lives of our students and families. Our recognition awards for December month were;

Creativity Genius Award

• This certificate is awarded to a student who has a creative energy in all that they do. They turn ordinary moments into extraordinary adventures. They are innovative and have a boundless imagination.

• This certificate is awarded to a student who exceptionally models warmth, kindness and inclusivity within our school. This student creates a positive and comforting atmosphere, especially for newcomers and visitors. They consistently offer genuine smiles and friendly greetings to everyone.

Congratulations to all our award recipients for January month.

On Thursday, February 27th, we will be partaking in the Kids Eat Smart Breakfast Club Blitz! All items donated will go directly back into our very own school daily breakfast club. We will gladly accept any and all donations. Some items we use often include:

bagels, toast, english muffins, cheese, granola bars, apples, oranges, cereal, yogurt drinks or tubes, fresh fruit etc. We will also accept any cash or gift card donations to purchase items. Feel free to drop any items off to the school at your convenience or you can send them in via your child. Thank you in advance for your support.
