School Production Updates

Production practice is now in full swing across the school, and the energy in the air is fantastic! It is wonderful to see our students putting so much effort into their rehearsals, and I am personally so excited to see the entire show put together. There is more information further on in this newsletter.

Swimming Success & Upcoming Year 4 & 5 Sessions

A huge thank you to all the parents and caregivers who supported our Year 3 and 6 students with their swimming sessions. It was a fantastic success—the children had a wonderful time while gaining valuable water skills and confidence. Our Year 4 and 5 groups kicked off their swimming program yesterday, and I would like to extend an early thank you to all the parents who are giving their time to support these upcoming sessions. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Teacher-Only Day – This Friday

A quick reminder that our school will be closed to students this Friday for a Teacher-Only Day. This provides a valuable opportunity for our staff here at Bellevue to gather for professional development and workshop training. We look forward to seeing everyone back bright and early next week.

School Cellphone Policy Reminder

Finally, a reminder regarding our school cellphone policy in line with Government regulations. At Bellevue, all student cellphones must be handed to the classroom teacher at the start of the day and collected at the end of the day. Students are not permitted to use cellphones during school hours. Please note that while we take care to manage these devices safely during the day, the school cannot accept responsibility for lost, stolen, or damaged property. I have included our SchoolDocs policy below for you to look at. Thank you for your support in keeping our school environment focused on learning.

Device requirements at school

Bellevue School recommends that students do not bring personal digital devices to school.

If students bring personal digital devices (including cellphones) to school, the processes below apply. Students must hand their device in to their teacher at the beginning of the day, and can collect the device at the end of the day.

If personal digital devices are to be used for a learning activity, this will be pre arranged with permission from the family and teacher. The principal will be informed by the teacher and the use will be closely supervised by school staff.

Smartwatches should not be used to communicate with parents/caregivers during the school day.

Personal digital devices may not be taken on EOTC events.

If a student uses a personal digital device inappropriately (including using or bringing a cellphone or other personal digital device when it is not allowed) the student must hand it to a staff member immediately when asked. If possible, the student should lock their device before handing it to staff. The device will be kept in the office and can be collected by the student at the end of the day.

Library

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIBRARY STOCKTAKE COMING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Every two years we need to take a stocktake of ALL the books we have in our school library.

Our stocktake for the Library will be happening in Week 6 of this term (24th - 28th August), and the library will be closed over the week while the stocktake is on.

ALL books will need to be returned to the Library by Friday 21st August.

Helping your child to return their books by the above date helps us to complete the stocktake as quickly as possible and have the library open again for business as soon as possible.

Thanks in advance

Bellevue School 2026 Production – A Night at the Movies

We are thrilled to announce that on Thursday 24 September our whole school will take to the stage at Newlands College for our 2026 production, A Night at the Movies.

This special event is an opportunity for every Bellevue student to shine and celebrate the arts. Every child will be involved in the production with their hub, whether through dance, singing, acting, or a combination of all three. Some students will also have the exciting opportunity to take on lead roles.

Behind the scenes, a talented team of our senior students has been busy storyboarding and writing this original screenplay. Their creativity, imagination, and dedication have been incredible, and we can't wait to see their vision come to life on stage.

Productions like this rely on the wonderful support of our school community. If you have skills or experience in creating props, painting backdrops, making costumes or any other aspect of theatre production, we would love to hear from you! Please get in touch with Megan at megan@bellevue-newlands.school.nz if you're able to lend a hand.

Keep an eye on upcoming newsletters for more information about performance times, ticketing, costumes and rehearsal updates. We can't wait to share this exciting journey with you and look forward to an unforgettable evening of movie magic!

Enrolment planning for 2026-2027

Do you have a child turning five soon or next year or know someone else who does? Parents of students who live within the home zone and intend to enrol their child at any time in 2027 are asked to please notify the school as soon as possible to assist the school to plan appropriately. It helps us to know as early as possible how many students will be enrolling as a five-year-old. Interested families may collect an enrolment pack from the office or from our website.

Out of zone enrolment applications are now being accepted for the first enrolment period of 2027 17 December 2026 to Friday 9 April 2027. Up to five (5) places are likely to be available for out of zone students.

The deadline for out of zone enrolments is Friday 18 September 2026.

Please have a look at the school website for more details: https://www.bellevue-newlands.school.nz/enrolment.
